I understand what you mean with moving! It took just over ten days for us to drive for this most recent move (we decided to make a fun trip of it and see some sights rather than flying/shipping everything just for the three month assignment).

The annoying thing we had was with biometrics as we turn up for a walk in appointment in a random ASC in Chicago half way through our trip as we didn't want to head all the way back to Boston give we were about a third of the way to California by then.

Also, there are issues about whether we're breaking the 10-day rules on updating the USCIS on your physical location... We spoke to two Tier 2 agents and one Tier 1 agent who told us that we shouldn't (yes, shouldn't) update our physical and mailing address with them given that it was a temporary, 3 month visit to where we are living at the moment. I took their ID Numbers and made notes of the time/date just in case we had difficulty. Hopefully no issue for us.

Let alone the issue we have with having to keep her home state plates on her car despite living 10 days drive from that state at the moment. The fun part of that is to do with her car's annual inspection which is coming up in September. We can't get back to the East Cost until October so we contacted her home town DMV for guidance. The joys of my wife's job! Wouldn't change it for the world though as we love these little adventures where we become locals in a short period of time!

Simon

Haha we're the same. We have a storage unit on the East coast with our household items for when we're over that way and we'll store what we have here if we don't stay put. The drive might be long but there's some stunning views. We did ID to WA in the Winter via OR and it's breath taking, all that snow in the mountains <3

Did you go through the top or middle states? We've done both and the middle has much more in it. Though we spent 4th July last year in Kansas and saw nothing lol Mind you, as I'm typing I'm imagining you'd have gone through the middle/bottom.

We've never thought about the plates much. Every time we're due to renew them we're back in ID so have always had ID plates. If I recall rightly you can sort the plates online. It'll be easier if you can.

Ahh, someone else fond of adventures :D We love them also, though it's nice to stop now and then. WA is definitely my favourite so far. :)

I called the USCIS an hour ago and the agent told me "There is no mistake, if you don't go through biometrics it's because we have everything we need. You should receive your NOA by August 28th and your green card max 60 days after that." I still don't believe it. I just can't.

Oh wow, how awesome is that!

Secretly, I was wishing I'd be one of the fast ones without any extras ? (not like my status is making any progress ?) but I guess nobody can beat you at this point! ?? (....so jeleous!!!) ??

Question to those who have received an update on their cases in Form of RFE, cards being send out etc...

How did you find out about it - meaning:

If you signed up for SMS or Email notification, did you find out via that message or by checking your case status online?

I was just wondering, since I never received a notification when they updated mine. It was around the time everybody got an update. So nothing major and my case history doesn't show anything either.

..and I keep checking every day hoping for change. So, should I not bother checking online until I receive some sort of notification via email or text?

We have the email notification turned on. The last email we received was the noa1 and nothing has changed since they put out in the online case checker. Hoping this is a good sign. A fair few people got rfe/rfie's already. But there's plenty of time for anything or nothing to happen between now and interview. We just gotta be patient.

On the website of the Charleston SC office it says that you can only visit the office with an appointment. But military members can do walk-ins.

My husband is active duty military but he is worried that the walk-in won't apply for me, as being a military spouse. Does anyone know if I can go to Charleston with my military (spouse) ID?

I did walk in with military ID in Nashville, TN. The guy even told me I am lucky I had my military ID otherwise he would turn me around and have me come much later. My husband was at home (he is AD), I am only a Spouse.

:( I'm sorry to hear that guys.

Hopefully, the RFIE notices will arrive in the post soon so you can work through them and continue to progress - we'll all get there eventually :) Hopefully, shouldn't be too long a deviation! If you have any questions then I'm sure there knowledge base on the forums will be able to help!

Aye, I'm expecting an RFIE any day now and I am travelling (we're travelling on the West Coast vs our mailing address on the East Coast). We'll have to get somebody to email a photograph of the letter and then mail over the original as we won't be back home until October.

A similar situation was particularly fun when we were sent our biometrics appointment notice. We were away for that so my wife's mother opened our post and text a picture of the the biometrics letter. Notably, a printed version of that photograph was accepted for our walk-in ASC in Chicago (our original appointment was on the East Coast). At the time, I was unsure whether the photograph would be accepted due to the barcode not coming out too well on our photo of the biometrics letter. The ASC Technician accepted the printout and took my fingerprints; however, I'm unsure if she scanned the bar code on the appointment letter or whether they typed a code in manually... hence why we'll want the original RFIE to be sent over in the mail too so we can have a physical version and guarantee the quality of any photocopies.

Simon.

We are expecting the RFIE notice any day now in the mail. We're still traveling and a long day's drive away from our home on the East Coast but a neighbor is watching our mail. She will be able to forward it or read it to us so we know what to do. We expect it has something to do with the tax return but who knows. Being on the road has it's challenges during the wait but we can't stay in one place too long :)

I hope it will be easy for you to deal with an RFIE from the West Coast. In the notice it says you can also call and request a copy of the RFIE; perhaps an option so the original doesn't have to be forwarded. Maybe they could send one to your current address.

Haha we're the same. We have a storage unit on the East coast with our household items for when we're over that way and we'll store what we have here if we don't stay put. The drive might be long but there's some stunning views. We did ID to WA in the Winter via OR and it's breath taking, all that snow in the mountains <3

Although your post wasn't meant for me, we are like that too. We have a boat on the West Coast and a place on the East Coast. Last year we drove the south and the middle. Loved them both. On our way we stayed as much as we could in the National Parks. So much beauty! We loved the desert, it has it's own charms. And the Rockies, great places there too. The adventures are so much fun. Now we drove up the East Coast and down farther inland. Beautiful. Virginia is great. The Chesapeake on one side and the Appalachians on the other. Surprisingly beautiful :D
