Just did my walk in biometrics today. It took about an hour in NYC.

No issues, and judging from how nervous some people looked I don't think I was the only one doing a walk-in.

So 6/27/2016 Biometrics taken

That's very interesting!

Did you get the biometrics appointment letter already? ..and then you just decided to go in early and get the biometrics done? Do you think this might speed up the process? ..and nobody said anything to you showing up just like that?

If you answered all or some of the questions already, sorry for asking again. I just came across your posting and was thrilled about it. I might want to do that too!! Got my appointment letter yesterday, but I'd like to get it over with and not wait until July 13th.

Morning! Anyone can do a walk in but it's up to the office if they can or want to take you outside of your scheduled appointment. Take your letter with you though regardless of possible outcome. Some offices are simply too busy though so don't be disappointed if you're turned away.

Some people suggest it might speed up the process but I personally don't think it's anything more than another step along the way. There are far too many petitions that require biometrics that if they sped up processing based on biometrics appointment dates they'd get in to quite a pickle with people jumping the queue. Good luck with your walk in if you go for it!!

OK, thank you. The reason I asked about it is because you mentioned NYC and this is also the office I have to go to.

Is there a specific time frame you would suggest to go?

I FINALLY got all 3 of my NOA1`s by hardcopy this morning! My husband was leaving for work so I ran as fast as I could from the mailbox to his car to give him the good news before he left :D People probably thought I`m a little crazy, but that`s okay :D

Hopefully we will get our bio appointment tuesday or wednesday!

We are probably going to have our appt in Charlotte, but there is no info on early walkins there so I guess we will just have to risk it! It is still a 3 hour drive but I`m just going to go for it, we will make a little day trip out of it!

Yay!! Congrats :D:dancing: I read a few posts, though they're all from years ago now, saying that Charlotte don't do walk ins unless it's for a missed appointment - even though our letter specifically states the petition would be considered abandoned if we miss it. >.> - there are even some centers that turn people away if they're there too early for a scheduled appointment.

We've decided to head to Yakima on Friday for either a successful walk in or to reschedule. I'd be happy to wait til our date if they'd have sent us to one in our area but apparently this is the only way we can get it rescheduled.

Yeah I`ve read those old ones too but I figure times have changed, since now you get denied if you miss your appointment. I also found lots of other old threads from other ASC offices that used to deny most of them, but allow almost all walkins nowadays. Since we are really cutting it close (Notice date June 28th, wedding in my home country on October 8th), we are just hoping to be allowed in early, hoping it will speed up the process even a little (worth the risk even if it doesn`t speed up the process), and see how it turns out! So I`m expecting to hit the office sometime next week, the day on or after our appointment letter comes in the mail :D

I did just read that going in on a Saturday (our local ASC isn't open on Saturdays not sure about Charlotte) they accept walk ins and it's usually empty. Let us know how you get on ^.^ Maybe the Charlotte attendees will see this in future too. There's also no proof that it speeds up the process, though I do hope your plans all fall in to place :)

Yeah I made a thread about it yesterday but literally no one except p-ana (from this thread) replied, and they also found that there is literally no updated info on Charlotte, almost sounds like not a lot of people go there! Hopefully I`ll know more once my letter comes in the mail. Yeah the hope of speeding it up is more kind of a gamble, I talked about it with my husband, it`s a long drive and there`s no proof it makes it go faster, but I`d hate to not try and be late with my AP and then feel like "what if I would have" I`ll definitely keep y`all in the loop though!

Funny how excited we all get... ? Yay for you ?

It feels like I spend half a day reading up on people's responses and experiences regarding walk-ins ??

I'd say 98% were successful, which is great! So I'm definitely going to try to do that maybe next week Wednesday.

I found a very long thread with offices all over the place, but none of it mentioned Charlotte.

Just make sure you have a reason for showing up early (in case they ask) don't know if 'we were in the area' will do, but if you're "out of town" during you scheduled appt. that should be a good enough reason.

Good luck!

Yeah at first I thought I had to go to Alexandria VA (Cause I`m in VA) which is on that list, so I was all ready for it, but it says nothing about charlotte sadly.

Our main reason is because my husband works 4 12 hour shifts a week and he can`t take off any more, he took all his paid time off when we had our wedding in April, so if the appointment date is on one of his workdays we will not be able to go. We`re 3 hours away so I hope for them that will kind of help our case a little, to let us stay even if it`s busy :D But if they don`t so be it! :)

Hey guy I have been reading other forums regarding the EAD and AP card we will get once we are done with biometrics, and I wanted to put this question here to find out your opinion or to see if someone has a precise answer.

Once we have the Avance Parole, can we travel outside the US or do we still need to ask for a re-entry permit to travel explaining the circumstances?

I found this thread but it's from some years ago. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/345637-entering-the-us-with-an-i-512-advance-parole/

I think the re-entry permit is only if you plan to be outside the US for more than a year, but still not 100% sure of it.

And the other question is, once we get the green card do we still need the EAD and AP card to travel or does the green card replaces it?

I will probably have to travel because of work and would like to go visit my family. I have a very sick grandma that I would like to visit.

It would be nice if someone who has also done this type of research on this issues could give me their two cents on this.

Thanks in advance.

Alex and I have been friends for 23 years. We met in Mexico City and kept in touch as our friendship grew. On April 28, 2015 everything came into place, we confessed our love for each other and became a couple, and on June 13, 2015 we decided to get married (L)(L)(L) On February 4th, 2021 I became a US citizen.

The EAD usually comes together with the AP. It is called combo card. The AP serves as the re-entry permit. You can stay out of the country less than six months. Once your green card arrives, you can disregard the combo card. There are some cases that green card arrives earlier than the combo card.

Thanks! So once you have the green card you are good to travel internationaly?
