I still wonder if doing a walk in would speed up the process. Does anyone have proof or has anyone read it does?

I haven't seen any proof that it speeds it up. Basically when biometrics are done, the information just sits in the computer until someone in another location actually start working on the case, but biometrics are usually done WELL before someone ever touches the case, so it doesn't really effect time at all. They purposely want it done early so when they get to the case, it's not something they will have to ask for since it's already been done.

I think it would be good to add the who can or can't view their case status online, as others have mentioned.

If you do put me in the Can't group.

It would be reassuring to see how many of us have the same issue and who the lucky ones are hehehehe

So far I haven't seen any proof it speed up things (and would be interested in reading anything if anyone finds it), but if it's possible to try and do the walk in I'd say go for it.

As the office is a one and a half hour drive, trying once and not being accepted was enough for us. We'll just go on the appointment date now.

My asc was in another state, not far driving, but seeing as I can't drive here and husband was out of town, I had to take a bus and train, I couldn't just go and be turned away. I ended up going on my designated day, earlier than the time they set though. So far so good.

Hello there!

Please add me to your doc too I'm a 6/11 filer. My signature isn't updated but my timeline is. I mainly use my phone surfing VJ, and I'm too lazy to update my profile that way lol.

I've been lingering in this forum since it was created.. And been silently reading all the.. Uhm.. Amusing exhange of thoughts lol.

We just got the biometrics letter with the appointment dated July 15th. Sounds like a happy dance moment until I saw the center address wants us to go all the way from Moses Lake WA to Idaho Falls ID -.- Turns out whoever mailed the appointment letter put an Idaho zip instead of our WA one. We haven't lived in ID for a few years now. Hubby is just on the phone filing an error so we can get a new appointment, closer appointment. Idaho Falls is 9.5 hours away. *sigh*

Ouch...

Why don't you go to the uscis website and find the closest asc to your zip code? I remember reading someone here (not sure if it June) that was in another state and was able to get the biometrics done with no problem. You could try it, if is close to you, instead of waiting for a new letter.

We're going to have to look. The woman on the phone (after trying to put my birth year as 1957 and adding 30 years to me) only altered the address and kept the date the same. She said we can do a walk in closer and if they can't take us that day then they'll reschedule it there. *sigh some more*

Good morning everyone!

Just got done with walk-in biometrics. The gentleman at the reception was very nice. If my husband wasn't military they would had me come back bit later (he told me come back at 2ish at first) but then he checked my military ID so he told me to stay. Overall it took about 5-10 minutes not even.

All military personal and families should automatically get top priority at all times. IMHO

Thank you for your service and sacrifices to our great country. Happy 4th of July.
