Here's a link of filled out sample forms for AOS (I-1485, I-765 and I-131) fill out your forms the same way they are filled out in the samples. It will answer your question if K1 is a refugee or not. The answer is no.

Follow this link: http://www.visajourney.com/content/examples

You only need two (2) 2"x2" Passport Photos.

Advance Parole is prior permission to be able to leave the U.S. and come back during the AOS process. Use the sample forms in the link above to fill out the forms you need. They are straight forward.

Thanks so much!!!!!!

Most people send 6, 2 for the I-485, 2 for the I-765, and 2 for the I-131. I guess it's up to the person, but I've always been under the impression that you send everything each file requires, and under the instructions for both the I-765 and the I-131 it lists 2 passport style photos as what to send with EACH application.

I say send 6 total, two attached to the I-485, two attached to the I-765, two attached to the I-131.

Each individual form technically needs it's own copies. Ash is correct. You should treat each application as if you were filing separately with the exception of the filing fees. When you file together it's a one time 1,070 fee. That's where the benefit is :)

Agreeing with the other poster, possible RFE. Depends on the person that gets your paperwork and how much of a stickler they are.

Hello everyone!

Just joined the group :) Hope we all get our documents soon.

I do have two questions, hope someone can help me out.

1. I notice many of you applied for SSN AND ID, can I also do that if I entered with a K1 visa and am currently adjusting status or I have to wait?

2. On Monday I received text messages and emails stating my case was received (NOA1), However, I got 4 messages..and I only sent 3 forms (AOS, AP, EAD) but the weirdest part is that I received the same case number twice, meaning I only got 3 case numbers. Is this normal?

Thanks in advance :)

Hello everyone!

Just joined the group :) Hope we all get our documents soon.

I do have two questions, hope someone can help me out.

1. I notice many of you applied for SSN AND ID, can I also do that if I entered with a K1 visa and am currently adjusting status or I have to wait?

The moment you entered on your k-1 visa you were entitled to file for SSN and a Learning Permit/State ID. The SSN office usually doesn't question the reason behind it as they understand the process. All you have to do is locate your local SSN office and you can do that from their website. It's typically about an hour to two hour waiting process for something that takes literally 15 minutes to confirm. Just bring your passport with your K-1 visa in there stamped along with your birth certificate and that's all you will need. As for the ID/Learner's Permit, the DMV sometimes won't understand what the visa is so you'll have to explain it to them--sometimes though you get lucky. Either way bring the same things you brought to the DMV once you have your SSN number because that's further proof of your situation.

2. On Monday I received text messages and emails stating my case was received (NOA1), However, I got 4 messages..and I only sent 3 forms (AOS, AP, EAD) but the weirdest part is that I received the same case number twice, meaning I only got 3 case numbers. Is this normal?

We got 6 messages as there was an extra message per each case number. I wouldn't worry so much in the end. In a few days you'll have the hard copies :)

They received our filed on June 20th, NOA notification by email on the 23rd and hard copies on the 27th.

Hope this helps!

Thanks in advance :)

You have to go to the ss office as soon as possible, so you still have at least a couple of weeks of validity on your i94. If you wait too long you'll need your ead to get the ssn.

It's better to apply on your passport name and later on change to your married one.

About the extra copies per each form: it seems like lots of people get approved without rfe, but every now and again, people with a grumpy adjucator get rfe's. So let's hope we get a happy one :D

As for the ssn: you can get one in your maiden name and change it later on! I got my ssn before i got married, 3 weeks after coming here after marriage you can change it, either before your i94 expires, or if your i94 has already expired, once your greencard arrives. When i went back to change mine to my married last name my i94 had already expired for a month so i'll have to go back in a few months :)
