My wife had her AOS interview in San Francisco on December 21. The interviewing officer who called us back asked if we had our lawyer with us since we had used a lawyer to file the 601 and 212 waivers. We said no. She was a very pleasant Asian woman but she was very business like. After the oath, she went through our application and asked the series of questions from the I-485 regarding intent, she also asked a few questions regarding my wife's past immigration violation, she asked how we met, how many at the wedding, which immediate family members attended, as well as a few questions about life after the wedding. She asked for evidence: we presented photos, a joint bank statement, employment verification for both me and my wife, and she also asked if we attended church, where we went to church and how often. Fortunately I had brought along our church offering envelopes which had the church name and both of our names and address. She seemed really impressed with this. She also asked my wife a few personal questions such as my birthdate and what I did for a living to see if my wife knew the answers. She also asked if we had left the country after my wife received her AP and how long we were gone. She finished her notes and handed us a sheet that said the process was on hold pending a few more background checks. She told us if the final checks cleared that my wife would receive her "conditional" Green Card in the mail. We had plans to travel to Mexico the following day so we asked her if it was okay to travel. She said it was fine since Maria had her AP card. She then asked us to go have a seat in the waiting area while she made copies of our documents. She came out with our documents, wished us a happy holidays and we left.

We walked out of there feeling a bit optimistcally cautious but felt we had satisfied the requirements to get approved. Yesterday while having lunch here in Mexico, we both received text messages that our case had been updated. We anxiously went to the USCIS website to see our fate and saw those wonderful words "My New Card Is Being Produced". We both teared up with joy. A few hours later we got another update text which showed "My Case Was Approved".

Needless to say the remainder of our trip to Mexico ??will be very nice knowing that when we drive back across the border into California?? that my wife is officially a permanent resident. Now we can relax for the next 21 months???.

Just wanted to post a little update for everyone... We had our interview on December 7 in San Diego (I485 AOS). We waited for about 30 minutes after our scheduled time and our interview lasted just under 30 minutes. Officer was very kind - to the point - but he did engage with us and we had some laughs.

Questions were pretty basic - nothing surprising or out of the ordinary or too personal at all. It really was easy.

When it came to photos, we had put together a little 'chatbooks' photo album (check out the app - it's brilliant). He loved it - flipped through every photo of the 60. Asked a few questions about a few of the photos, then took some copies - and handed us our approval notice :)

Green card arrived one week later (it REALLY is green! haha).

I can't begin to express how much this community and the resources here help through this process!

Happy New Year to everyone :)

From the USCIS website, there's a link that displays the historical processing timeline from 2014 to 2016 as of September 2016. It shows the average number of days from application to green card at hand. Under my category 2014 was 165 days, 2015 was 205 days and 2016 was 206 days. At the moment I'm at 216 days and still counting, no interview or case approved ? yet.

Did they tell you your case is at Tampa Field Office? I called them last year, Dec 27, 2016 to be exact (Day 214) to ask about my case. I was expecting my case to be at the closest field office from me which is Jacksonville, FL but the IO said that my case is at Houston Field Office. I'm so confused and anxious that until now, Day 230, i don't have any updates on my case. We've been waiting for too long already. :clock::cry: I hope we get the good news anytime soon.

So, it has been forever, and I find myself very stressed about it, so I need to share this with you and maybe get my spirit quieted a little.

I submitted my I-485 in June, got an appointment for fingerprints and etc. In August we got an RFE because apparently there weren't enough tax returns in the package, so we just sent all the possible tax return available to us.

Since then, silence, I called, mailed. nothing. The website reports:

Quote

On August 23, 2016, we received your response to our Request for Evidence for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number MSC1691218411. Our National Benefits Center office will begin working on your case again. We will mail you a decision or notify you if we need something from you.

It has been a very long time, and I am just getting overly anxious, because it's now 7 months we have been waiting >:

Any good word?
