I love this website. I get so much help here...

Here is my situtation. I am from Brazil and I came to the US with a brazilian scholarship to do my master degree here. I met my US citizen boyfriend .

Next week I will return to Brazil to fufill my 2 years (waiver doesnt apply in my case).

I wanted to know my best option to be together soon, so our options are:

1- wait the 2 years and when it get close to the end pf the 2 years, apply for a k1 visa.

2- my bf is thinking about getting married after 1 year I am in Brazil and join me there, and we apply for CR-1 visa before the end of the 2 years.

I wanted to know from people who had been in this situation or similar, which advices You can give to me? What would be my best option?

I really appreciate!

Thank u so much

Get married now? That way when the 2 years is up you get an IR1 visa instead of CR1 and dont have to remove conditions. You can slow down the process at the NVC.

~~moved to what visa do I need from IR1/CR1 process and procedures~~

Thanks NRL, but marrying now is not an option for us.

You can have a big wedding later, but generally a civil ceremony can be put together quickly. Or elope to Las Vegas. But if that's not what you want and doing the ROC process is fine for you, personally I like the CR1 visa better because you can travel internationally, work, drive, etc... It depends, however, how independent you are, and how important it is to have your wedding ceremony in a certain place.
