My father (permanent resident) applied for F2B visa. At the time of application he wrote my name as appeared on birth certificate but my all official documents has different name. First name is same only last name is different. We submitted all documents including father financials and my civil documents. they asked further documents to confirm if I am same person and we provided those documents as well. Now it's been 7-8 months on CEAC website status is still same "AT NVC" and the instructions says "please follow 6 steps before we can schedule your interview. I sent email to NVC and they mentioned my new name in reply that means they have updated my civil documents. Now in email they mentioned your case is still at NVC we try to reduce time but have to wait (something like that).

My question is, what should I do now? If I am not wrong then it doesn't take that long before they schedule interview. My 2 younger brother are also USA citizen now and my other family members already received their green cards. appreciate your advise. Thanks.

You should know your Priority Date (PD), NVC will give you Interview Letter (IL) once your PD becomes current. Check the Visa Bulletin published by USCIS monthly so that you will know when will be your interview.

Based on Visa Bulletin, the current PD for F2B is 22 Oct 2009, you are 2 years delayed. After you submitted all required documents, within 60 days you should recieve a CASE COMPLETE email from NVC telling that you are in a queue awaiting interview.. I think it is better for you to get an immigration lawyer since your father made a mistake in writing your name, that makes NVC taking your case too long. Goodluck.
