Reading online posts it sounds like if you have lived in another country for over 6 months (maybe 1 year) they may ask you to get a criminal background check or police certificate from that country.

On the DS-260 it asks about prior residences after the age of 16. My wife had a F1 visa in the US and was in the US for some of her high school age.

Her after 16 age listed is JAN 2006.

On the previous address form should we put July 2005 to May 2006 (her full stay period) OR Jan 2006 to May 2006 (since it only asks for after 16). If we put the 1st one then it is over 6 months and I'm concerned they may ask for a police certificate from the US or something??

Edit: Maybe it doesn't matter I guess since there is section about US visits and we'd have to put all her stays in the US there anyways.

Police certificates for the USA is never required for US immigration. They do their own checks.

Also please re-read when a police certificate is required. ;)
