CSC just cashed our ROC check today (yay!), so we are expecting to get the NOA letter soon. However, there is a family emergency and we need to fly across the country this week. We have no idea how long we will be gone for. What will be in the NOA letter? Will there be anything I will need to respond to or have ASAP? My card doesn't expire until August and I will definitly be back by then, so I am not too worried about having the extension letter. But I am scared about not being here when the NOA arrives.

I may be overreacting but there is so much stress right now with family illness that I really don't know. Any info about what to expect and if I need to find someone to regularly check the mail and such would be so appreciated.

Thank you.

Nothing to be scared about here. Since you don't need the extension letter now, you don't have to worry about the contents on the NOA. You should be careful not to miss your biometrics appointment though, that comes in the mail after the NOA, try to make sure you are back by whatever date you are scheduled.

Your NOA1 comes two to four weeks after submission. Your biometrics letter comes 4 to 6 weeks after submission, and normally gives you 3-6 weeks notice for your biometrics appointment. You should be fine!

Hope all goes well.

Thank you all so much! You've put my mind at ease, at least in this regard. I have someone checking mail periodically so I'll make sure to fly back out for the biometrics.
