Hello All! Happy Monday!!

Friday we got Simon's Advance Parole in the mail, that was way cool, now we know for sure we can go to England in the fall!!

Today we got a little white card in the mail, it's call Employment Authorization Card. I am assuming this is his EAD, but I didn't think it was a little white card for some reason. It's good for one year, it came from the Missouri Service Center.

Also wondering - do we need to do anything to adjust the status on his SSN? His current SSN card states on it that it is not valid for employment, but now that he is valid to work, I assume he needs a new card - right?

So I guess we are still just waiting for his adjustment of status from California now!

Congrats on getting the AP and the EAD!!!

I went down to the SSA office to get a new SSN card without the notation written on it about not being employment authorized, right after I got my EAD card.

Doesn't his SSN card say on it "Not valid for employment without DHS authorization"? In which case the EAD is the authorization.

It does say that! Thanks much!!!

So this card - this is just his temporary thing and we still need to wait for his "green" card right? I guess I'm a bit confused as to what comes next.

Once you have the GC, you do not need the EAD or AP anymore. If the GC does not come by the time the EAD or AP expire, you will need to apply for renewals. But, in most cases, the GC arrives before they both expire.

Ok - so it is a different card then. Do I have to do anything to apply for it? Or is that part of what we have already applied for? I guess that's where I'm confused a bit. :blink:

I thought the SS office is only supposed to issue the SS card without that text once you have your Green Card?

INstead of paying for AP I would make an infopass appointment and request an I-551 stamp.
