Hi everyone! I'm new here today, but apparently registered with this website in 2009, so I must've been thinking about immigrating then and changed my mind :) We filed earlier in the month. Got the email on the 20th, receipt on the 24th, my priority date is the 14th. Our case got sent to Nebraska. Woohoo!

Hi ppl, need ur guidance. I chkd the status on e gov and the case is updated as received.it also says "sent you the receipt notice that describes how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice."

Did anyone of u got smthing like this to follow instructions on that? We did nt rcv the hard copy and dnt know wat to do? Wat a puzzle.

My husband rcvd sms and email of noa1 but we have not rcvd hardcopy. Its not even possible to rcv it at the moment. We gave our common adresses of saudi arabia in the beginning columns of address of I-130. We do not have a address to live in US as we r in process of relocation and booked hotel in US. So we jst mentioned the hotel's address untill house is rentedin the later column where it says where bdneficiary intends to stay.. I know that they will not deliver anything on hotel's address. It will remain a puzzle until we rent a house and update the address.

Any input on this appreciated.

thanks.

I sent our packet out on June 4, received electronic notification on June 10, and received the hard copy of NOA 1 on I think June 18. So there was a small delay. But you said your NOA 1 is going to be mailed to a hotel. If you're sure you should have gotten it by now, I would reach out to the hotel, if you haven't already done so. Hotels can receive mail on behalf of their guests. I would call and ask if they have received mail in your (or your husband's) name. If so, have them set it aside; if not, have them keep a lookout.

Wow, that's quite a gap! I joined in May 2015 to ask some questions and then I came back this year because I was ready to get things going =] Welcome back!

If you received the email notification, it's pretty much the same thing. For some cases, there are instructions that you have to follow to set up an online account. That is most likely not the case for your petition, so I wouldn't worry about the instructions part. An NOA1 for I-130 basically just tells you what service center your file was sent to, case number, and is proof that you paid your fee. It might be a good idea to figure out an address to have your mail sent to from USCIS though. They'll notify you with NOA2 the same way you received NOA1. As long as you have your case number, that's all that matters for now.

Welcome new filers!

Did you request to be notified electronically (by filling out form G-1145)? If so, you probably should have received an email and/or text message by now. Did you write a personal check as payment in the packet? You can check and see if it has been cashed.

That does seem like a bit of a strange delay; hopefully you should hear something by next week. If you haven't, I'm not sure what you could do, if anything, except continue to wait. Fingers crossed that you hear something soon!

I just heard back from my Rep. Here's what they got from USCIS; TL;DR: no expedited processing, even if you're filing from abroad.

Good evening Robyn,

This email message is in reply to your inquiry regarding the Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, which your constituent, Mr. L, filed with USCIS for his wife, Ms. L, on June 6, 2016. According to USCIS electronic records, Mr. L’s petition is currently pending assignment to an officer for adjudication at the Nebraska Service Center (NSC). As indicated on the USCIS Website (https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplay.do), the estimated processing time for Forms I-130 that the NSC receives directly from the USCIS Lockbox is 5 months from the receipt date. Please note that estimated processing times are processing goals and not a guarantee that applications and petitions will be processed within the estimated timeframe.

From a review of your inquiry, it appears that an opportunity to expedite the processing of Mr. L’s Form I-130 is being sought. Information pertaining to the standard criteria for expedited processing is available on the USCIS Website (http://www.uscis.gov/forms/expedite-criteria). Due to the high volume of requests for expedited processing, this criteria is strictly enforced. As the general purpose of all Forms I-130 is to reunify families, family reunification is not among the criteria for expedited processing. A pregnancy is generally not considered sufficient grounds for expedited processing in a Form I-130 case unless the pregnancy is a high-risk pregnancy requiring medical care in the United States. Additionally, while expedited processing requests submitted by active duty military personnel may be considered, these requests should be accompanied by supporting documentation (for example, deployment orders issued by the U.S. military).

As indicated on the USCIS Website, “The burden is on the applicant or petitioner to demonstrate that one or more of the expedite criteria have been met.” If Mr. L believes his Form I-130 case meets the expedite criteria and he chooses to submit an expedited processing request relating to the aforementioned criteria, it should be accompanied by supporting documentation which may substantiate it. Personal statements from the petitioner and/or beneficiary are generally insufficient to substantiate a request for expedited processing. If Mr. L intends to submit an expedited processing request with supporting documentation that is in a foreign language, it must be accompanied by a full, complete English translation. The translator must also certify that the translation is accurate and that he/she is competent to translate. Your constituent may submit his expedited processing request with supporting documentation to your office; and your office may forward it to us via email or FAX. After receiving it, we would be pleased to forward the request for consideration in the Form I-130 Unit at the NSC.

If we can be of further assistance, please let me know.

Sincerely,

Jon J. Peterson
