Been a while since I posted, have been busy! I went to France to spend some time with the family, unsure how long NVC approval would take, but then we got our notice that the expedite was approved. Our interview was yesterday, I stayed home with the kids. The officer asked a total of zero questions about our relationship, etc - he asked if we had ever been married before, and if she had ever spent more than six months outside of FR or US. Then he just looked at our paperwork, saw that everything was in order, and said she was approved. We should receive her visa sometime in the next few days!

It’s been almost two weeks since my wife’s visa status changed to ‘issued.’ We were getting concerned, so I contacted the (outsourced) contractor company who handles visa logistics. A rather abrupt fellow who sounded Romanian told me that I should read all of the emails that were sent to me before calling them next time. I dug around a bit and found a couple different email addresses hidden in various FAQs, and sent off a few emails asking what was going on with the visa issuance. In what I’m _certain_ is coincidence, I received a tracking notice an hour after sending those emails (although another coincidence, the label print date was today). We receive her visa tomorrow!

We are on week 8.... counting the seconds now...

Plus, our expedite request was denied! How did you do it phillamb168?

NVC expedites are at the discretion of each embassy. I was told in-person by a consular officer a year ago that, for Paris anyway, most expedites are approved if all the paperwork is in order. But keep in mind that my first request was denied. Only after filing a second expedite through my Senator's office was it approved.
