Hi,

I applied for the spouse visa for my wife back in June, with a June 28th priority date. I was transferred from Nebraska to Texas on November 17th after 4 and a half months of no activity. Now one month later, the website changedstatus to "my Request for Initial Evidence was mailed"? Does anyone know what this usually means?

I originally applied at the end of June by filling out the forms myself without a lawyer. I also didn't realize that there were forums I could go to for advice. I hope I didn't fill something out wrong or not include something I was supposed to.

Unfortunately it simply means something is missing from your petition. It could be a box not checked, missing passport picture, wrong marriage certificate or a signature missing. In a nutshell a RFE could be anything. Just wait for the letter in the mail with what's wrong. I hope it's a quick fix. Edited by MrsBurgz

Ok, thank you! Haven't received anything in the mail so far, I hope its something straightforward and this does not delay my application too much.

I'm seeing I-130 cases that were transferred to Texas around mine getting approved! I hope I get an update before this week is out. Congrats if any of you guys were in that June 29 batch!

Hi everyone!

It's been a while for me to update being a busy new mom, but here is the deal.

We got transferred to TX like many of you here about 25 days ago and on the 16th of Dec I got an update saying my application was received by my local office.

I called today to figure out what that means and was told it means we got transferred yet again to NY office where i, the petitioner, reside.

What the heck is that? Has anyone got similar updates? I feel like they are transferring my application all around causing delays, especially since the 180 day time line starts anew at each transfer.

Any input? It's been 210 days since I applied on June 1st.

Congrats to all those who got approved!

Best

Any updates from any June filers? I have been following the case approvals here, since it seems USCIS is stuck back in June. It seems to me from recent approvals that they are maybe finally finishing June, making them only about a month behind on their processing in previous months. Was hoping to start the new year with a petition approval, but now it looks like if we get approved in February we will be lucky.

Could you please tell us which application you're using in order to see that? All I can see that most June filers are transferred without specifying the center. I hope we see more approvals soon so we can start 2017 with good news!

NVC says they received my application yesterday and are currently processing it, said that it could take up to two weeks to do so, but that I am free to call back as often as I like to see how it's going.

Case entered into the system this morning at NVC, assigned case and invoice numbers, checking the system every few hours to see if the agent assignment is available yet.

It took about five hours for agent assignment to become available, so I filled it out immediately and then called to request that NVC review it with me over the phone. I was told that they couldn't do anything until we received our welcome letter via email, so I waited.

We had previously sent an email to asknvc@state.gov (BEFORE receiving our case number, just a week or so after we had received notice from USCIS that they had sent the case to NVC) for "Declaration of the Choice of Address and Agent for Immigrant Visa Applicant." We had received an email yesterday afternoon requesting clarification because (oops!) we had forgotten to include my (petitioner's) email address. My wife responded about an hour later to give them my email.

Received our welcome letters this morning at around 1:30 am EST (about two days after initial case number assignment).

Upon logging into CEAC after the reception of the welcome letter, I see that Choice of Address and Agent (DS-261) is marked as COMPLETED and was then able to pay the AOS fee. I filled in my US bank account details and clicked submit, and then noticed that I also had a "PAY NOW" link for my wife's DS-230 IV Fee, and tried to pay it, but it's unavailable. I called to inquire about this and was told that it wouldn't show as available until the AOS fee had processed, which usually takes about 48 hours. So I'll keep looking at that.

IN THE MEANTIME (and this may help some of you), I had done my due diligence in reading over the NVC's lists of supporting documents, etc for AOS and DS-260, and after reading the welcome email noticed that there is nothing in there that says you can't send your packet of photocopies over early, it just says "If you have not submitted Form DS-260 "Online Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Application"at http://ceac.state.gov, please do so now."

SO I am going to go ahead and overnight all of our paperwork, with the Document Cover Sheet. That way there's no waiting time once the DS-260 is submitted, they will already have everything ready to go.

NEXT STEPS:
Wait for IV Fee to become available, pay it.

Wait for DS-260 to become available, fill it out. AS SOON AS it's filled out, send form DS-2001 (Notification of Applicant Readiness) to my embassy. I was able to find my particular DS-2001 (they apparently vary by consulate/country/embassy) online. I will overnight it to them, give them a few days, and then email NVCExpedite@state.gov to request an expedite. We had been told by a DoS agent at the Embassy six or so months ago that they will generally approve expedites IF we have all of our paperwork completed, hence my submission of DS-2001.

Further bulletins as events warrant...
