How do you actually talk to someone at USCIS? I call and get "to talk to a customer service representative, please call between 8am and blah blah". It doesn't give a time zone, but I've called at various times throughout the day and can never talk to anyone. Is there a secret?

Are you calling the Customer service number? (800)375-5283

When you call USCIS and get the lengthy message..thank you for calling USCIS... Do not press anything, just hold until a rep comes on the line.

This works for me.

Happy thanksgiving everybody. Any news from Potomac Center?

Nothing yet. Should there be a message to say transfer was received at Potomac? I haven't had any update since Nov 4th notice says it was sent to that office.

I called USCIS and they said that the processing of transferred cases are all dependent on the center, they said that the center might deal with the cases immediately or they might process the case in their processing margin which is 5 months. So she's saying I could wait 5 months AFTER the date that they received the transfer. I've already waited 5 months at Nebraska....

I don't think 10 months is correct - did she specifically say they'd be up to 10 months? I'd assume she meant they'd be waiting until the original 5 months had elapsed.

She implied that there's a possibility that could happen and it's dependent on how that service center goes about processing its transfer cases

so i was one of the nebraska transfers to texas.... approved Nov 7 I-797 says transferred to DOS NVC, email update Nov 16 states post decision activity.... sent to DOS... yeah... ok......

well i just called the NVC 30min wait on the phone, got a rep, asked here for the DOS Case # and inv id#. she gave it to me and said to watch my email in a couple weeks for an update...

then when i go to the choose an agent part of the dos website... i get this message:

Please be advised that the case that you have attempted to access is not eligible for further processing by the National Visa Center at this time. Please contact the National Visa Center if you believe that you have received this message in error.

what does that mean???????

and when i go to the immigrant visa invoice payment center : my name is listed as petitioner but no fees are associated and says not invoiced.

so is it just too early?

After the NVC Case ID is generated, it takes them 2-6 weeks to enter the case into the system. You will be able to complete DS260 online after that.
