same experience calling them.... Unless you're the "applicant" wont' give you any information..  And level one at USCIS doesn't tell you anything you don't already know or can't get from the internet.

If you will come back with expired extension letter, you should definitely go to get the stamp. As for naturalization, you should be eligible on 6/13/2017 (90 days before 3 years after green card issue date). My green card was issued on 9/11/2014 as well, I will file for naturalization on 6/13/2017.

hello everyone - i have a question about job situations.

 

i had my biometrics appointment last july (2016) and i am still pending for my renewed GC. i am also about to start a new job, with my 'expired' GC and the 1 year extension letter. 

 

my questions are the following:

 

1. is the 1 year extension letter a year from the card expiration date (october 2016 for me, so extension until october 2017) or from the letter issue date (july 2016 for me, so extension until july 2017)?

 

2. what happens if it comes to october (or july) - so my extension is over now - and i still do not have GC? will i still be able to work at my new job? will i get a new extension letter by default or do i have to apply for a new one? 

 

thank you guys - i am very worried about my new job not taking me because my GC could potentially expire in a few months.

1. highly debated here: is the 1 year extension, 1 year from the letter date or from GC date, because USCIS seem to give different answers to different applicants.

2. Nevertheless, when your extension is about to expire and if your RoC is pending approval, you can get an INFOPASS for a passport stamp that will give additional year extension.

So we called yesterday the 26th and they told my wife that we need to wait until one full year has passed before they will do anything. My wife was told since the extension is good for one year, there is nothing that they will do until after that point.  Further more, we were instructed to wait another 30 days then call.....

Throughout the process, (unless your application is actually denied, which happens VERY rarely) your husband is fully legal.  His ROC is pending, but he is still a legal permanent resident until and unless USCIS tells him he isn't.  All you would be missing is the PROOF of that status (which, I admit, he will need if he wants to travel outside the States, or access certain government departments (DMV in some states etc)). However, the onus is on him to make the appointment and get the stamp - USCIS will not generate another extension letter.

 

Yes, he can still apply for citizenship at the 3 years of residency (as long as he fulfills the other conditions), whether or not he has actually been approved for ROC. The ROC will have to be approved before they process the N-400, but some people are applying with the intention of making USCIS adjudicate the I-751 so that they can get to work on naturalization! Who knows? It might even work!
