If your green card expired in Sept. 2016 then, shouldn't be the one year extension letter will expire in Sept 2017 and not June?

The extension is a year from the date you file the I-751 or a year from the date they receive your I-751, I cant remember my exact date in June, but mine expires in June.

Oh, I thought it's one year from green card expiration date.

Not really.

Actually the extension letter doesn't explicitly say an expiration date instead it says "your conditional resident status is extended for a period of one year"  meaning: it extends your conditional resident status by one year irrespective of when you file I-751 etc.

If your conditional GC expires in Sep 2016, then it is extended for one year with this letter till Sep 2017

I will have to check my letter later for some reason I thought it had a date in June on it.

I don't have it in front of me

Called USCIC today the guy said that my case is still pending a background check and that the timeline for the I-751 is 9 months to a year. (even though their site says 6 months)

I was advised to get a I-551 Stamp  on my passport for my travels out of the country in May & June as my extension expires in June.

So Annoying as I can apply for my citizenship in Sept.

This I-751 is a waste of money.

Exactly I-751 is a waste of money and time. The problem is if u going to file for citizenship, u have to cough up another money and get in line with the same waiting game. Is just bollocks

With USCIS, I doubt that logic works. They were stuck on May 14th for 4 months. Who knows. They could be stuck on May 31st for another 3 months.

You're so right.

Indeed. By the way things are going with CSC lately, it is more than likely that we'll see at least 2-3 more months before being processed. Up until last month we had hoped they would pick up, but no more, specially after the (unbelievable) processing times updates. So the 9 months to a year rumor seems to be true.

Nothing to be jealous of lol.

CSC hasn't moved past May 2016 filings since November 2016.

In the same period, VSC has processed about 3 months.

I won't be surprised if VSC catches up with CSC by June this year.

~AOS : 09/11/2014 - 2 YR Green card received!.

~ROC 07/13/2017 - 10 YR Green card received!.

~N-400 : 10/28/2020 - N400 Interview & Approval/Oath Ceremony/US Citizen!

More Importantly, I am a proud Anti-Fascist!

I understand.

The point is that CSC is already working on June filers and VSC is far from it.

This is what I meant.

It's OK, we got it and I'm with you on it. You - as most of us do here - are just airing your frustration out, in your case for VSC being behind. But mind you that CSC is stuck at May for almost 5 months now (they're not exactly processing June, as only 2 around here were randomly approved, technically they are May 31st as it says on their website) and, in the same period, as @MaleAlpha pointed out, VSC has moved up 3 months. From the look of things I believe they plan to level all Centers out: all of them taking a year or more to deliver a decision. Sad for all of us

I agree with this. I suspect that CSC won't really get moving again on June/July/Aug until VSC is caught up. At least I hope that when CSC and VSC are both at May/June, they'll all keep working at the pace VSC seems to be at now. Maybe they're worried that USCIS local offices will be deluged with people trying to get I-551 stamps so they're doing their best to keep the waits < 1yr for almost everyone.

After the elections, the new administration may have asked CSC to slow down and get aligned with VSC, this is my theory. I could be wrong. All we can do is sit and think of different theories.
