Hi guys,

I filed the request for out of normal processing time. I filed i-751 on May, 2016, and RFE on May, 2017. And responded to RFE on June, 2017. I waited until 20 days ago and filed the request. Today I just received letter from USCIS said my application is under active examination. As soon as the interview is determined, I will be notified by mail. It takes too long for me to wait. But I still feel upset. How long will it take to schedule an interview? I have included all supporting documents in my application and I really don't know what else I can present in the interview. Super upset and don't what to prepare. I am in NYC. Please give me some advice! Thank you so much!

Hey - caught me up working late. Aha.

firstly - take some deep breaths. The worst decisions are made when you are panicking.

You said you received a letter saying your case was under active examination.

Thats new to me. Is that a thing?

You then said - as soon as the interview is determined.

Forgive me, but I am maybe assuming English isn't your first language - you are coming across really well, but getting mixed details. Lets figure this out.

If you were asked to attend an interview, that would be a very straightforward letter with a date and time and location to come to.

Did you receive a letter with that? Or a letter saying that an interview was going to be scheduled and you should wait for further info?

Sounds very strange. Maybe someone else on here has seen this, but I haven't.

If you are unsure, call the help line and ask to speak to a tier 2 officer who can advise you on what your case status is and what is expected of you at the moment.

When you call, you will speak to a fembot who reads a script. Tell her you need to speak to a Tier 2 officer. She'll transfer you.

Sorry not very helpful, - just my opinion -  but lots of super knowledgable guys and girls on here, and if you share some more details, people will be willing to share and help.

Thank you for your reply. I requested once for out of thr processing time about 20 days ago. I just got the letter stating that my case is under examination. But also, they are going to schedule an interview for me. Once they determine the date of interview, they will mail all these information to me. Anyone got same letter as me? Many thanks!

Making a service request was what I did. That was how I found out that they sent me a RFE. I am now still waiting for the letter to come. By the way, my case never has had any updates on My Case Status ever.

Don't worry too much, zmj617. The interview is just to make sure that you and your spouse are still in marriage. As long as you guys show up together to the interview, naturally talk to the interviewer as a couple, share with the interviewer your marriage life. By the way, the letter will tell you what to bring.

Hello there,

I've been a silent lurker here but I just want to let you know that you should file a service request due to out of normal processing time asap. I have the same NOA date like you, 06/27/2016, no update, no changes on my status until couple of days ago. I made 3 infopass appointment, I always get disappointed because all they could say was be patient, they have a lot of cases to be reviewed. I finally made a service request on 09/20/2017, got an email on 10/04/2017 that said they couldn't give me a timeframe when it should be done. On 10/06/2017 I was just doing a routine check on my Case Status online and it said new card is being produced.... no email or text notification, no approval letter but I'm thrilled!! I guess the service request triggered them to finally closed my case.

They will give you a deadline after you file the request. They will mail you a letter around the deadline

This is incredibly frustrating. Today is my service request deadline and I haven't heard a thing.

Today is a federal holiday... obviously if life were fair you would have had a response long before now, but keep in mind that neither the offices nor the mail service were operating today.

In addition, there's a fast moving wildfire that is only about a half hour away from CSC so I'm not even sure they'll be doing business tomorrow!
