I am sorry for what they are doing at the DMV!  The driver license validity period can vary, apparently. When I got my 2 year GC, I got a license that was valid for 8 years. I hope once approved, you'll get one that is valid for a long time buddy.

Yeah, I guess AZ has special rules about it(((

I recently filed my N-400 for citizenship with a pending I-751. Will my N-400 and I-751 be approved concurrently (meaning I have to around 6 more months) or can my I-751 be approved separately in the meantime? Does anybody have any experience of this? I'm having the same drivers license issues as the above poster and I need an updated green card ASAP.

If your I751 comes up first - that will be adjudicated and you receive your 10 year GC.

If N400 comes up first, they will adjudicate your I751 first , technically grant you your 10 year GC. Which you will never receive. The officer will take a breath, close that file, and say - right - now your N400. And proceed with that. All at the same time. In the same interview. Happened tons of times.

This is standard procedure and nothing at all to worry about. Good luck!

Edit to add - if the license issue is a problem, try get an infopass and get the temp I551 stamp in your passport. This is a full bonafide "green card" and proves your PR status. It's just a stamp, not a bit of plastic, but holds exactly the same power as the bit of plastic does.

Thank you for the info @Teknodude

I considered getting an infopass stamp but I've been holding off because I keep telling myself that my I-751 should get approved any day now. July 2016 filers are getting approved so why the hold up with my case? That's a rhetorical question by the way...I realize that nobody knows the answer.

Piece of advice for all: Make a copy of your green card (front and back) before you attend your infopass appointment as they officers take your green card from you but you need to send a copy of it with your N-400 application.

ZonaZoo that's an interesting point, and worth following up for benefit of other users who may be worried about this.

Now when I attended my infopass my officer took my GC - he said - did I mind? I said - do you care if I mind? He said no. We laughed. He told me people cry handing it over. Aha. People get attached to them: he said - apply for N400. At no point did he say - take a photocopy.

But remember - the I551 stamp is a "green card" - a green card is just a physical plastic I551.

The I551 stamp is also a "green card".

So taking a photocopy of your stamp in the passport is the same thing, and that is what you send when submitting N400.

Again - this is nothing to worry about, and USCIS have seen it all before.

Update:

Received 2 letters today from USCIS : one was the 10 year GC and the other was an approval letter sent from Nebraska.

GC was mailed 2 days after the card production status change.

GC was received 4 days after it was mailed.

Congratulations to everyone who's been approved and good luck to everyone awaiting their approval.

Did your status change to card was mailed?

Yes. There are 2 status updates. One when USCIS orders production of the card and another when the card is mailed out.

There is no status change when it is approved.

Hi Everyone,

I have an infopass appt. coming up, what documents should I take with me? Only have 2 NAO, and the Biometric one. Other than that passport and the expired greencard.

Any advice?

Thanks

If you're going to get the stamp in your passport, then you need your passport, expired green card, and NOA. Make sure you scan/copy both sides of your expired green card, because they might not return it, and if you want to apply for citizenship before you get your 10 yrs card, you'll need the copies. Good luck!

That's all you'll need. However, I brought with me also a full copy of my I751 package, they did not ask nor need it but I felt good about having it just in case. All you mentioned is good, if you have a valid State ID I would, bring that.

You recently applied for citizenship, correct? And your profile says Boston is your field office, so is your ROC being transferred there to be adjudicated before/alongside citizenship?

Yes, I did recently apply for citizenship, I am not sure if my ROC is being transferred to be adjudicated alongside N400.

This process is so dreadful.!
