Unless it is a state issue, then your beef is with your state and not the process.....

Yeah it depends on the State and to be honest it's just dumb to issue 2 year driver licenses to GC holders. The DMV is not an immigration law enforcement arm so it doesn't make sense why they will limit a customer's ability to drive per their immigration status.

It is with the State. Oregon issues them for 8 years for GC holders (2 yr or 10 yr GC) and US citizens. For folks on a visa, the duration is by the i-94 date. This is a logical thing to do.

When we moved to Illinois last summer, the DMV charged my wife the full $30 license fee for a license valid not much more than a year (we're going through ROC, so they used the end of the 1-year extension as the cut-off for the license). Before that, when we lived in NC, she had a series of 1-year licenses (F1 visa) and then one 2-year license (on the initial green card), and the fee was something like $4 or $5 per year of validity; she didn't have to pay the full-length license fee for every single short license. Doubtful that the 10-year card will have arrived by October, so she'll probably have to get an I-551 stamp, renew the license for another single year, pay the full $30 again... quite a racket.

Wow $30 it's a lot(((. I went through the same process as your wife did, but the cost was $15 per card. I wonder why it was $10 this time. 

But still $30((((((. Maybe because you guys moved to a new state? Maybe if you would wanna get Illinois license they will also charge you around $30

$30 is the license fee in Illinois. Mine cost $30 and is valid for the full four years. Hers cost $30 and is valid for just over one year. I preferred North Carolina's system, where the fee is on a per-year basis! (Don't know how other states do it.)

I believe if you have been married for more than 2 years before sending your first AOS application, you are approved for a 10 year GC. By staying married for that time, you are fulfilling the conditions. It happened to a friend of mine, he sent is AOS the third year he was married, and got a 10 year GC.

I am sorry for what they are doing at the DMV!  The driver license validity period can vary, apparently. When I got my 2 year GC, I got a license that was valid for 8 years. I hope once approved, you'll get one that is valid for a long time buddy.
