Hope you are wrong. Looks like we might have to wait until the N400 interview, they will either pull out your pending case and adjudicate it or approve both applications at the same time..

Hello everyone!!

 

I just have a quick question that I have searched for an answer to and have been unable to find! My husband's one year extension will expire July 21st, but we are not planning in leaving the country. If we aren't leaving the United States, do we still need to make an infopass appointment to get his passport stamped?

Yes, you should.  Without doing so, your husband's green card is technically expired.  It is no different than when a regular green card goes past it's 10 year expiration without renewal.  In these days of the Trump administration, I don't think that this is something you want to chance even if you don't plan to travel.

Hi, i've been reading this topic for awhile but never join.

Just want to share with you all that today my ROC was approved (notified by email), online status changed to Card/Document Production

Receipt date 06/23/2017, filed at Vermont, no RFE

It was along way, i called 2 weeks ago and was told my case was assigned, i did place an online inquiry last week (out of frustration) and did infopass on Monday for the stamp (got it)

I filed for N400 last week also

Well, to be fair, the date on the top says the numbers are current as of Apr 30, and that's certainly where CSC was at on Apr 30.... it's also weird that they're updating on the 29th - they usually update around the middle of the month. 

 

Hopefully they get moving again in July. Just to be clear, I have absolutely no information to suggest that they will start moving again in July... I just really hope so.

You probably don't need it, but that doesn't mean it's not a good idea to get it. First of all, you may need to travel without much warning, and you wouldn't be able to do so (say, if someone in your family was ill or you win a trip). Secondly, depending on where you live, you may need proof of your legal status to change jobs or get a new Driving License or any number of things you're not anticipating now.

If you suddenly needed proof of your status, you'd then have to make an InfoPass and those are sometimes hard to come by (especially, I'm guessing, right now, when so many people are going to need the I-551 stamp since USCIS is taking so long. 

You don't technically need it, but I still think you ought to make an appointment shortly before the 1 year anniversary of your green card expiration date.

Incorrect. Your status as a Legal Permanent Resident does not change until you are either approved or denied.  If you had not submitted your I-751 you would be out of status, but you did, so you are not out of status.

 

The only thing the stamp does is provide you with proof of your legal status. Which, depending on where you live, you may require, as I said above, for employment, driver's license extensions etc. 

 

As soon as USCIS accepted your I-751, your status is "Conditional Permanent Resident with Removal of Conditions Pending" and that doesn't change until USCIS has made a determination. This is why they feel justified in making us wait so long; because our status as Legal US Persons is not in danger throughout the process.

I received an update from one of my Senators staff today. Seems our case (NOA1 6/13/16) has not yet been assigned to a case officer. They were told that this might take place in the next month. They also suggested that we get the passport stamp in the meantime.

That sucks, but according to a member on here California is going to play catch up in July and rush through applications  It remains to be seen, I guess we can try to be  positive regarding  this revelation and hope that this is indeed true.  Hope you hear shortly Jim.

HI all. I got my hard copy letter today letting me know that my new green card is on the way. It says the green card should be received within the next 60 days. Does anyone know if it actually takes them 60 days, or do they usually get these sent off sooner? I'm curious as I would like to have a card in hand rather than having to go get a stamp in my passport if I want to pop over to Canada. thanks!
