Reference those thinking of filing N400 - I just want to quote this - as although it goes contrary to my opinion further up thread, where I believe an I551 stamp in a passport is worthy proof of status, just like a green card is, I want to say, in hind sight thinking about it - having both doesn't hurt.  And the official line on USCIS website - is to provide a photocopy of the Green Card.  

The old adage - bombard them with tons of information.  So photocopy that old out of date green card If you still have it. and send it to them - and include a photocopy of your up to date "green card" (the I551 in your passport) just to cross all the T's and dot all the I's.  

Props to Nightingalejules for mentioning this - I was pushing that a I551 might be enough - but in hindsight - I'm not so sure - but I'm looking into it and as soon as I get an answer, I'll share it with the group. 

 

Just wanted to follow up on that.

For those of you who filed 400 and got the 751 approval, please share so we might have an idea whether USCIS will combine the 2 if both have been filed, some members have been speculating that.

Dear Everyone,

I would like to give you some ideas about N-400 & I-751 of mine:

I applied for  N-400 in 06/06/2017 while my I-751 is still pending over 1 years.

I had an infopass on 05/21 to ask about my I-751 and needed the stamp on my passport for one year extension. Nothing was updated ...! And then I had an infopass on 06/08 to change my home address and asked about I-751. Nothing was updated ...!

One more time on 07/05 I had an infopass to ask about I-751. That time was stress because the local officer told me that my I-751 was hold to combine a interview with N-400. She printed the notice of USCIS to show me that my I-751 was returned to the agent USCIS local office to review (with N-400) on 06/09/2017 after I applied N-400. 

So that I was sure 100% it's be combined interview with N-400 and taking another year to wait for processing, I guessed.

But I got the approval notice from the USCIS local office on 07/09 (I went to infopass on 07/05).

Please try to do whatever you want to do or can do in your best. 

From now on, I trust in myself and keeping to go ahead one way.

To be told by the local officer like 100% be sure. And I saw the notice. My case I-751 returned to local office from Vermont. And finally the approval notice sent to me by USCIS Philadelphia Director on 07/09.

Thanks, and congrats with your 751 approval. We are still waiting and waiting, hopefully soon. We will file 400 in 3 weeks. Been waiting for 751 for almost 11.5 months. CSC filer here

I meant we can hope everything would be great and brighter when it's not done yet. Whatever they said, be yourself! They could say a  interview combined for I-751 or N-400 or whatever they told you, just need the official notice from USCIS. That's for real. While you have not received any new updates from USCIS, you still have time. Trust in God.
