Hi, we are using a friend as a joint sponsor...

06/22/2014 I said YES.. I want to be your girlfriend... :luv:

07/16/2014 I had to come back to Colombia because my program was over :cry:

10/10/2014 My love met me in Colombia to spend my birthday weekend with me. We got engaged (L)

02/17/2015 - 03/09/2015 He came back to Colombia to visit me and met my family. :star:

05/12/2015 We couldn't stand the distance, so he decided to move here with me. :wub:

05/28/2015 We got married at the notary. 06/06/2015 We got married at church :D

12/03/2016  Moved back to the USA. 🥰

Thank you Gryphon, I knew I probably ended up in the wrong place - forums have never been my strong suit.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction :)

I think you can use a signed written letter describing the relationship to the sponsor.

Proof of relationship is only needed when filing form I-864A, as shown on the link:

If you completed Form I-864A, submit evidence that proves your relationship to the sponsor (the person who filed Form I-864). You can prove your relationship by submitting a photocopy of one of the documents below:

  • Birth certificate;
  • Marriage certificate;
  • Adoption certificate;
  • The petitioner or joint sponsor’s most recent Federal Income Tax Returns, if you are listed as a dependent; or
  • A signed, written statement describing the relationship.

I would suggest if you have "everything ready" then mail it directly to the NVC. If you send it to your friend by the time he receives the documents and sends it to NVC it might take more days. Make sure you have a tracking number so that you can track the package.

Good evening guys!
So question about the medical, when is my spouse able to make an appointment for his medical? Do I need to finish the ds-260 first?

Thank you in advance!
