Hopeful yes. I called again today just to see if any news. Of course no, not anything yet. Just the same message it could take up to 6 weeks.

So I have been researching on the posts for the Philippines but can't find anything -_-. Does anyone know if a Philippine NSO birth certificate or NSO marriage certificate expire? and what does it mean by petitioner documents?

Thank you in advance!

NSO birth and marriage certificates don't expire (at least not that I know of).

According to the Department of State website (https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Supporting_documents.html), petitioner documents are:

If you are applying for an IR5 (parent of a U.S. citizen) or F4 (brother or sister of a U.S. citizen) visa you must obtain an original (or certified copy) of your petitioner’s birth certificate.

  • You must send a photocopy of your petitioner's birth certificate to the NVC.
  • You must submit the original (or certified copy) and a photocopy of your petitioner's birth certificate to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate at the time of your interview.

I'm assuming you're the USC so no, they won't need your birth certificate, just your husband's ;)

You're very welcome! ^_^ I went through that same feeling not too long ago, haha. I just had my husband get one for me anyway though, just in case for some reason they ask for it during his interview.

Guys,

I really appreciate everyone's help here. It is really awesome to see that you guys are pulling this together as a family.

I have a question for tax return. We got married on Jan 31st 2016. When I did my 2015 taxes I filled as a single person, because I was single in 2015. I read somewhere that this is going to be a red flag when it comes to interview and nvc stage. Should I do something different in this case?

Thank You.

You were not married in 2015, so you won't have any problems.

(If you had married on December 31st, 2015, and filed as single...then you would have a problem)

Hi to all;

It's been encouraging reading the post of pretty much all of you.

We are IR/1 NVC filers with a June 6th scan date. Its been an unimaginably long and horrendous road since our August 2014 NOA1 with case transferred from TSC to NSC to a Florida field office (and USC lives in TX) back to TSC then finally to a Dallas Field office where the case inadvertently sat its final months - the entire delay was nothing resulting from our end.

With a high-risk medical situation on hand, we await our Case Completes. Been told it will be at least 6 weeks despite the "30 days" indicated on the scan letter from the NVC.

Looking forward to reading about all your successes. Thanks for reading!

Earlier a lady asked about claiming her husband on her 2015 tax return. I claimed head of household and claimed just my son and not my husband. I now wonder if I should have claimed him. I never thought of that til now. He of course has no social or tax id number. So I wonder if I should do an amended return. ............. I researched and because I filled head of household I did not need to claim him. I will claim him this year as we have already submitted a w7 form just in case he does not have a social by then

We were in the same situtaion as you, and learned that the USC can file fr famil spouse and child/stepchild providing these ones have SSNs.

Hi everyone.. i just chked the status has been changed to " case sent to the department of states" after 3 days of approval.

I have the following questions. Can someone please help me out with these:

1. Will I get the update regarding NVC receiving the case on the same site?

2. Who will get the NVC welcome pack? The petitioner or the beneficiary? Or both will get an email regarding it?

3. Once the case number is assigned can the AOs and IV fee paid immediately or first ds 260 has to be submitted n reviewed?

Thanks...

Read over this. It has everything you need to get through the NVC stage: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process
