My bad, you're right! It's the IV I meant. Technically, you can pay the AOS before filling out the DS-261 then, correct? I'm a bit mad at the moment because I still don't have the tracking number for our AOS & IV paperwork, I need to chill a bit and not think about visa stuff

What tracking number for AOS & IV paperwork are you referring to? NVC doesn't send any tracking number for any paperwork. They only provide you with Case number and Invoice number.

@B&Z: Thanks for the confirmation!

While I remember it: How do yo handle Umlauts for the DS-260? Do you change them into non-umlauf form (such as ä -> ae and ö -> oe) or do you leave them as they are?

Also, there's a question (on page 64 of the sample document, second from the bottom): It says: "Do you seek to enter the United States for the purpose of performing skilled or unskilled labor but have not yet been certified by the Secretary of Labor?" - What do I reply there, yes or no??? I am at a loss, because of course I want to work when I'm there , and I haven't been certified yet, so do I click yes? I don't even know where and how I could get that certification from?!

You're coming on a spousal/family visa, not on an employment visa, so you would mark no. your purpose to seek to enter the US is to be with your spouse.

Quick question our joint sponsor will be sending her I864 to me this week. I just checked the instructions but just to double check the Case number (that we got from NVC) does not go in the form it goes on top of the page (we write it in)? Right?

Case number should go at the top of every single piece of document you send them. I-864 doesn't ask for the case number to be filled in on the form itself. just write it at the top.

Get this.... Checklisted.... For our MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE..... LINJOE, how did you survive???? I can't believe this.....

That sucks! i'm so sorry to hear that. I read your more current posts and hopefully you got a supervisor that knows what she/he is doing and can issue a CC for you within a week or so. stay strong, don't lose hope. I don't know how I survived. I went through several different stages of emotions: anger, disappointment, hurt, acceptance.

I am sorry!

Thanks, the lady on the phone did say that they accepted everything else... The domicile, financial documents. So that's excellent news. Nothing notarized, no sponsor. I'm all set there. So hopefully they will resolve this soon!

:( I was so stressing about the domicile thing you can not believe, I think I am getting gray hairs on my head. We do have a sponsor just in case but this gives me comfort. Even though you never know with them. May I ask what did you send to proved domicile? I was able to open a US bank account while in US just recently. YEA!

That was the first time in April when they checklisted us and then we resent it but now I see Jordache who has the same scan date as me got a checklist and I'm just really worried because I didn't see a third n/a as yet. We sent exactly what they asked for so what can possibly be wrong again? I'm at work and I can't even concentrate anymore :(

Congratulations!

First i suggest you read the NVC guide: https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/approved/contact.html

You will find tons of information in there. Make sure You get the required documents ready.

As for a timeframe, that´s hard to say. Just check out the timelines of other fellow VJ members.

Important: The NVC page requires you to be proactive, not just wait for them to make the first move.

For example: Once your case has been sent off to NVC start calling after a week or so to check if they have recieved it. Once they did (which is when they will tell you that it can take up to 42 days to get a case and IIN # assigned) call again every week until they give it to you ;-)

All the best to you for this part of the process!

Thank you so much for the link.. it really helped me knowing the steps involved in this process and what all preparation is required :)

I just hope its all done smoothly with no delay. ..
