We got our case number last week. I received and welcome email from the NVC but I received two emails with almost the same attachment one is addressed to me one to my husband? The only thing missing in my husbands pdf file is the AOS bill fee.

It doesn't matter. When you called for your case number, did you ask for your invoice number as well? you will need both to login to CEAC and pay your AOs fee and complete the DS-261.

I did not call. I recieved the emails last week while traveling so both emails on my email. One addressed to my husband and one to me the petitioner. I live abroad with my family. Both letters have teh same Case Number and same Invoice ID Number.

So I will log in choose and agent and pay the AOS fee, right? and step 3 states submit visa application online, right?

So do I and my husband pick an agent? I am confused little bit. Since he got a Welcome letter and me as well.

The NVC stage is going to be more about the beneficiary. the "DS-261" (Choose an Agent) is about the beneficiary. Who does the beneficiary like to designate as the Agent to receive information regarding the case. Many choose the petitioner to be the agent, unless working with a attorney or a 3rd party. So if you are the petitioner, you can complete the DS-261 for your husband and choose yourself as the agent.

I chose myself as the Agent for my husband's case. However, since I had given NVC both mine and my husband's email address when I called for our case and invoice numbers, anytime they did send me an email communication he was always cc'd on it.

Same concept goes for completing the DS-260 (Visa Application). It will be completed with information on your husband/beneficiary.

So, I got my case and invoice number on Friday. NVC told me that the packet will be sent to me this week. While waiting for the packet, can I already start the process?

Thanks in advance!

You don't have to wait. You can go ahead and fill DS-261 form online.

Thank you! They just e-mailed me the Welcome Letter!

Ok, just got done reading the other post's above about the DS-261. Just to make things clear I am able to do this form instead of my husband and able to choose myself as the agent?

Either one Petitioner or Beneficiary can submit the form and you can choose Petitioner as the agent. This way Petitioner gets all the email communications from NVC.
