Hi everyone!

I'm curious about one thing? Why do people that sent AOS and IV Package were getting checklists? For example, for what did they got the checklist? Do they forgot to send a document? Generally, the NVC welcome letter has a list with everything you must send. Is there anything else that they need but not tell you about? In the AOS package should there be both petitioner's and applicant's civil documents (except for the I-864 form and tax transcripts) ? And how about IV Package? Should it include petitioner's passport, birth certificate or police certificate?

I'm a bit confused about how and what should I send to the NVC....Someone who has been trough, can you please inform me exactly to what have you sent in both packages to the NVC?

You only send what they ask for in that welcome letter. Petitioner doesn't send passport, BC or PCC.

NVC isn't perfect, so whomever is looking at the file misses looking at something, or they lose a document. I got check listed twice for documents they had, were not needed or unobtainable. i don't think they train their agents well enough to know all the rules. I had to tell them their own rules when it came to my case.

Other times, it is because the petitioner forgot to send something in or sent an expired for, or forgot to sign something. it just depends.

Hearing the words "a checklist has been issued" is a horrible feeling. I don't wish that on anyone.

I wish you a smooth journey.

Not everyone's petition gets sent to NVC right away. As you can see from my timeline in my signature some have to wait. NVC seems to be getting backlogged again so you'll learn or at least be forced to learn patience during this whole process.

Once your status changes to "Your petition has been sent to the Department of State" then wait about 1-2 weeks and start calling about once a day to see if NVC received your petition. Remember they will tell you it can take p to 60 days to receive it from USCIS. don' t panic. These kinds of paperwork that has sensitive information in it is more than likely being sent via DHL, which means NVC should have it in their building in a few days; however, it depends on how long it takes for them to scan your petition into the system for the phone rep to confirm that they have your petition. Once they have confirmed they have it then wait another 1-2 weeks and start calling to get your case and invoice numbers.

Long winded answer to say, "no don't be worried. be patient." :goofy:

I wish you a smooth and quick journey

Oh dear...Patience, patience and more patience lol :) Thank you!

Ok,thanks...But one thing, did you completed that document cover sheet with "X" as appropriate?(the one NVC sent in welcome letter)

If you did that, they should have seen that one document or another are not needed, enclosed, unobtainable or not applicable. Otherwise it is not fair to send unjust checklists to people that are struggling to resist this whole time being apart from their loved ones.

Yea, I sent that in. I'm a rule follower. I did everything exactly the way they wanted it. Which is why I was so angry for them check listing me.

To be on safe side i sent the full passport copy of petitioner's passport, driver license, SSN card and even the federal student benefit copy. Upto you if you want or not. And as i used joint sponsor i sent his dad's passport, marriage certificate, SSN too.

Ua...this is so not right. I'm already scared of what may happen to our case when the package will get to NVC. Hopefully nothing bad will happen, although I already am disappointed on NVC if they really treat the life of other people so carelessly.

I'm sorry for you being in that situation with checklists. I truly had high expectations for US to be fair and prompt to these type of situations like visa issuing, especially for spouses of US citizens?

This is what I am thinking to do too. Even if they do not require his documents, I will still send them just to be on the safe side as you said.

Did you placed them in the AOS package or IV Package?(or maybe in both? )

I sent all of these everything relating to petitioner in the AOS package. Lol i was always confused with AOS and IV, so i wrote down everytime i sat that AOS is petitioner and IV is beneficiary. In IV package i sent my documents and all certificates and affidavits with the joint bank account.

☺ I see...For me is pretty clear the difference between those two but I was just wondering if it will be a good idea to have both beneficiary and petitioner's civil documents in both packages(at least passport and birth certificates copies). This way they won't be able to say that they do not have this or that, since I observed that a lot of people got checklists for missing civil documents or wrong I-864 form.

Well they misplace documents all the time. I got RFE in USCIS stage for one passport photo of my husband whic i did send. I was super confused with I 864 form. But i sent. I always thought i will get checklist well a little depends on luck i guess.

At the USCIS stage we had no problems...no RFEs thank God...(141 days from NOA1 to NOA2)

About NVC stage and I-864 forms, i have been very sure that we have to use the I -864EZ form but since my husband is self employed we need to use the I-864 one. If my husband would have not observed this little thing about self employed case, we would have sent the wrong form. It is not confusing, but you have to be very careful and read the instructions for every form and you can easily find out wich form is suitable for you.

Hopefully NVC will not give us headaches and be smooth ?

Oh, just another curiosity, did you wrote your case number on each document you sent to NVC as they suggest here on visa journey?
