I have a question... I have my interview at the embassy in Stockholm, Sweden on July 19th. My husband (USC) has been married before years ago. Will the embassy here in Sweden ask for his divorce papers? Is there anything else I should think about? I already have all required documents (or so I hope) and I´ve already done the medical. But I´m afraid that I will miss one vital document so that´s why I´m asking here if there is anything else. According to "The Immigrant Visa Process - Prepare for the Interview" online, I have all required documents but you can never be too sure...

If embassy doesn't ask you to bring in interview letter, you don't need to worry about it. If you want to get in case they ask you, you can request a certified copy for family court . If he remember his case number, you can download a copy from his state family court website.

If embassy doesn't ask you to bring in interview letter, you don't need to worry about it. If you want to get in case they ask you, you can request a certified copy for family court . If he remember his case number, you can download a copy from his state family court website.

All I´ve recieved so far is the letter from NVC on what to collect for the embassy visit. But it only states that "they" never asked for it but nothing about bringing it to the interview. My husband doesnt live in that state anymore and when we did the I-130 we couldn´t get it so we had to have a notorised letter stating that he was unable to get it but that he got divorced from xxxxxx and the dates. USCIS approved of this and NVC never asked for it. But I´m worried that the embassy might want it...

My husband and I were both married in the past. They ask for the final divorce papers from both of us. One of the RFEs we got was that the first time we sent his divorce, it was missing the citation "final/absolute". Took us two months to get that and translate it (from Germany).

2011 - Met hubby online and became friends
Early 2013 - Confessed our love for each other * Late 2013 - I got pregnant with our daughter
2014 - Our baby was born in Athens, Greece and completed our family. We now have two boys and a girl!! 2013 - 2015 - Looking for jobs in Greece, none were available (due to socioeconomic crisis) 2015 - Decided only way to feed our family was to immigrate and started the process December 2015 - Got married (Greece has a LOT of red tape for foreigners marrying Greeks)
January 2016 - Finished gathering all documents and getting them translated
* * DCF in Athens, Greece * *
28th January 2016 - Finally filed I-130s
29th June - ISSUED!!!!!!1st July - Visa packages and passports delivered to DHL.4th July - Visas in hand! CU in two weeks USA!!
19th July- POE Detroit. All went well!! (excluding our screaming, jet lagged toddler!!)

 

After Arrival in the US

September 2016 - Hubby is diagnosed with congestive heart failure
October - February 2016 - Battle with drug use, overdosing, bringing home a tiny paycheck

March - July 2017 - I am working 80 hr weeks to make ends meet. Discovered hubby's affair. Still overdoses and is hospitalized. Has quit working all together.
July - October 2017 - Marriage counseling. Revealed hubby has "several" mental conditions. Is started on several mental meds.

October 2017 - Got accepted for a college course. Got better job to help raise my kids.

October 2017 - March 2018 - Situation at home is toxic. He files for divorce.

July 2018 - Divorce is final. I have full custody of our daughter.

 

ROC (GC expires July 19th 2018)

July 16th - Package for ROC is delivered to the CA service center (divorce waiver).

August 30th - NOA1 received with 18 month extension (fee waiver approved).

March 28th 2019 - Biometrics

August 8th 2019 - Case Approved No RFE No Interview - 10 year GC in production

N400 (Online - Detroit, MI office)
June 6th 2023 - Applied for naturalization under 5 year rule.
June 7th 2023 - Application received/Biometric will be reused.
June 16th - Interview scheduled.
July 27th - Upcoming interview.



**Our DCF journey to an IV took 5 months and 1 day from turning in the I-130 to getting "Issued"**

If you know which state your husband filed for his divorce, you can contact the court. Some states, people can download divorced paper copy online. Why don't you give a few minutes and try. So you will have a peace of mine.

I agree - if you can get it, do so. Mine wasn't specifically requested either, but my lawyer recommended my wife bring it. (I'm the USC petitioner) It's probably dependent upon the CO

If you know which state your husband filed for his divorce, you can contact the court. Some states, people can download divorced paper copy online. Why don't you give a few minutes and try. So you will have a peace of mine.

The thing is that we did try at one point but it wasn´t possible. That´s why we needed a notarized letter stating this. But now when I think about it, It wasn´t to the USCIS it was to the Swedish Tax Agency so that we would be allowed to get married here in Sweden. We never sent anything to either USCIS (I-130) or NVC about my husbands divorce... We only filled out all information on all the forms that we have been sending.

I guess I should tell my husband to get a notarized letter written again that it can´t be optained...just in case.

He didn't tell me what he wrote about our son or if we "passed" the medical.

Our interview is tomorrow. Please please keep us in your thoughts tonight. My little boys are SO nervous one of them cried for half an hour over it, thinking he will mess up after we explained what will happen tomorrow.

Aww, poor little guy. I'm sure you're fine, the doctor sounds like kind of a jerk. Unless you have drugs in your system, some serious communicative disease or are missing vaccinations, there shouldn't be an issue (that I know of).

That might be a good sign. I can't speak for Greece, but I know for Mumbai they release the sealed medical report to the beneficiary to take with to the interview. If there was anything wrong, they would send the medical report directly to the embassy. not sure if Greece works the same way.
