Hi all,

I have a question to ask. Our scan date was May 9th and we are anticipating a case complete any day now from NVC. We are petitioning for my 5 year old stepdaughter. The embassy in Nairobi is notorious for being slow at scheduling the interview (my husband had his interview there several years ago). My stepdaughter is due to start kindergarten here in the US on August 26th but needs to be here by August 12th to get registered and do the entrance testing. How do we request that an interview be scheduled for sometime in July or early August for her? Do we email the embassy direct or do we still go through NVC to request? I understand that this request may be denied but I am trying to do my very best to make her transition to the U.S. and our schooling as simple for her as possible. Nairobi typically gets several months behind on interview scheduling so at this rate we most likely would have a September interview for her if we do not request them to consider providing an earlier interview date. Any help anyone could provide would be fantastic. Thank you!

I managed to get the NVC to agree to expedite my case, the files has been sent to the embassy in Abu Dhabi, and the embassy sent me an email to schedule an interview, which did.

However, how do I know if we need to biometrics first? I've seen posts about this, but I don't see anything in my instructions about this.

Also, I thought when the interview was scheduled a list of documents required was sent out? Since my cases went directly to the embassy, I didn't get an interview letter from the NVC.

June 8th was a really bad day. My husband (USC) was taken to the ER because of a severe medical issue. The doctor wrote a letter stating that it would be crusial for me to come over as soon as possible due to his medical state. I talked to a US Senator that´s been helping us lately and she contacted the US embassy in Sweden and NVC regarding this trying to get an expedite interview. I don´t know my chances in getting it approved but I´m hoping for the best. My case got completed on May 23rd and since then I´ve been on waitlist for an interview. All the requierd documents for the interview is collected and I´ve done my medical. The US Senator will contact me as soon as she hear something but I´m worried that it will be denied even though the letter from the doctor says it´s of vital importance. Does anyone here has any idea on how hard it will be to have it approved?

I see a lot of "issued" and I am so happy!!!!

I don't remember if I told you, but yesterday they called us and changed our interview date to the 15th (from the 28th). Yikes!!! So it was "case complete" on Monday, interview set on the same day for the 28th, then I arranged medical for today... then 3 days later they changed it to the 15th. Talk about my head spinning!!!! It was so many months of "hurry up and wait" and then within 3 days, BOOM!!!
We had our medical today, I have no reason to think we won't pass, we were fully vaxed, I am pretty sure I don't have or ever had TB :P lol and my kids were also fully vaxed. It was easy (note: this was in Greece), walked in, talked to the doc, he got some info on us, asked if I smoke etc, took blood pressure, listened to my heart/lungs, then sent me to get the blood test and the x-ray. Oh of course he also checked my vaccines records and because I hadn't had the vaccine for Rubella and Chickenpox (I actually GOT these as a kid so no vax was needed), he had asked in advance to get Ig titres (antibodies) so I handed that paper to him too.

Only thing is a small inconvenience is that now I have to go back on the 14th to pick up the results. Normally these are mailed to the Embassy but, not enough time now. And I say small inconvenience because it IS rather far and in heavy traffic BUT, SMALL price to pay, yes?

So guys and gals, WISH US LUCK, and I will of course update with details because I see very few VJers are from Greece so info is a little scant :)

GL to those still waiting and Godspeed with your interview dates!!!!!!

Approved!!!! I had written a little bit earlier but didn't have a chance to recap fully. First of all, really thankful to God and everyone here for their prayers and wishing everyone else quick approval as well!

So hubby's interview was at the London embassy at 1 pm today. He got there around 45 min earlier and went in. It was a pretty straight forward interview. He was texting me when he could, letting me know he had firstly submitted the docs asked for at the first window which included DS confirmation, police report, birth cert and confirmation of how he wanted his documents to be returned. Then he waited to be called up for his interview. He got around 6 or 7 questions about how we met, when we got married and towards the end it was cute because they CO asked him what annoyed him most about me and vice versa lol...I hadn't heard of such a questions before but he said the CO was smiling when he asked and it was all really pleasant. Hubby went on about our relationship lol and CO was like, ok ok you're approved lol.

So a couple of interesting things hubby shared with me that I wanted to share with you guys. He was handed the packet to bring with him when he lands in the states before he even had his interview (which means the decision was already made) and the other is that he wasn't asked to pay for his visa b/c I believe I had paid that fee to NVC already but wasn't sure so he had taken money but it turns out I did pay it....gosh its hard to keep track of everything and maybe I'm rambling but I was just soooooooooooooooooo happy to get that call that I've been waiting for, for literally everrrrr.

Thank you God and praying for the rest of you guys too. Oh and he was told he would get his passport back in two weeks, but I'm hoping it's sooner since everyone else seems to be getting it back within a week:)

Congratulations.

A*P*P*R*O*V*E*D!!!

Sooo happy - still can't believe it ?

Will post a detailed review later when I'm home. Still got 2 hrs to kill in Frankfurt.

Congratulations. So happy for you.

Congratulations on your husbands approval! Question: what made you think you had to still pay for the visa? Do they send you a letter letting you know if there's anything that has to be paid at the interview?

Misinformation. There are no Visa fees that need to be paid unless someone was going through DCF. If you went through NVC you paid everything.

Many read there embassies information and think it applies to them. Some people do apply through their embassies they would then pay them we don;t.

The only fee you have left is the green card production fee (they call Visa fee which is wrong). You pay after you get your Visa. You can pay before you come or after you arrive. Please see the 1st post all about it (last part of 1st post).
