Hello! My name is Michelle and I am a US citizen. I recently married my soul mate and best friend, Neil. Neil lives in England. We filed for the I-130 and have a priority date of April 22, 2016.

We got lots of misinformation before we filed. While he was here in the US for our wedding, we spoke to several immigration attorney's who each told us different things. We were told it was a mistake for him to go back to England, that he should just stay here and adjust status. But, that's a chunk of money up front! We were told his visa was no longer valid since he got married to me here. We were told he'd never be able to come back into the US for a visit while waiting on the I-130. We didn't know what to believe.

I think we've taken the correct course though. Him going back to England and doing the consular processing option seems to be the most accurate, legitimate way to do this without causing any trouble along the way.

We miss each other terribly and cannot wait for this process to be finished so that we can live together.

i'm glad to have found this forum. So much great information on here!

Hello and welcome Michelle,

Immigration process can be confusing. Lawyers can make the process worse if you have the wrong one. I have a question about your post... "consular processing option"....are you referring to DCF process?

Also you can "visit" with a pending I-130

OOOH, I see I'm going to need to search out the acronym key for this forum. LOL. I'm not sure what DCF stands for yet, but I'll go find out.

When I say "consular processing", I mean we are not doing the adjustment of status option with him being here with me, but he is back in his country and will await the I-130 approval, and NVC approval there and then be interviewed there.

Sorry if I've misstated myself. I will definitely look for the acronym key. Haha.

Ahhhh, I see what you mean now by DCF. No, I am in America. I've just read it put that way in everything I've absorbed through this process so far. It seems like everything puts filing into two categories: adjustment of status or consular processing.

Okay I understand :)......You can start getting your ducks in a row for the next process. Find the newest version of I-864 Affidavit of Support (AOS) it has the bar-code on it. Fill it out and collect the required documents..

Here I found the right form for you :)

Welcome to the forum.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Thank you!

Welcome to VJ.

When I pull up this form I'm not seeing a barcode on it. I tried to print it as well and it did not generate a barcode. It has the date 07/02/2015 on it.

What have I done wrong?

Affidavit of Support Under Section 213A of the INA Department of Homeland Security

USCIS Form I-864 OMB No. 1615-0075 Expires 07/31/2017

Hello Michelle,

Notice the small note...expires 07/31/2017 in the upper right hand corner.

I think the bar-code generates as you fill out the form......experiment with it. If it does not generate, I think I have read to change your browser. I use a Mac so I can not check it out for you....I think when I printed out a blank form a pc to use as a model to work from, it did not have a bar-code....The bar-code generates as you fill out the form on your computer....play with it a bit. If you are still having problems ask again. We will get you on the right track :)
