Has everyone seen this. The CSC is now processing I-129f cases w/ a processing date of "September 13,2006" which is an update from the August date that was listed a few weeks ago. So the "oldest application sitting on someone's desk" date has been updated. Hang in there everyone!!! Let's see some NOA2's this week! Last week was rather quiet on the K-1/NOA2 front. Hope to see some movement this week!

Oh, and this date now matches that of Vermont huh? We know that in reality that is very different, but strange nonetheless. Has this always been the case w/ the processing dates posted on the USCIS site?

It doesn't harm anyone. It gives you the worst-case-scenario type situation and cuts down on a lot of stressed phone calls (which frees up staff to actually process cases, which is what we want).

The government also reports and average processing time across all service centers as 2.9 months - which comports with VJ compiled data (see the Request For Public Comment, in the federal register for the fee increase issue).

They update the processing dates about this time every single month, like clockwork, moving everything up the same. So this month advances, and the 6-months-ago date advances. I wouldn't take it as implying much of any change unless you saw a dramatic increase or decrease (like it said it was processing cases from May 2006 suddenly, or Jan 2007 suddenly).

It's probably just another tactic to instill fear into petitioners. You can't go by their hokey processing dates.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

It's not fear. It's just managing petitioners' expectations. I don't like the long wait either, but I can see from a practical standpoint how it is far, far wiser to surprise people with faster processing times, than to deal with throngs of angry people when they don't get through the queue in 2 months time, etc.

And there ARE people who's petitions take that long (dear god, let it be none of us) - so it's not as if the numbers are fabricated.

I dislike the practice too and would be happier if they aimed for the likely more realistic 4 month processing time (outside margin), but I don't think the reported dates here are the biggest problem wtih the Service Centers.

I think the dates are helpful ... certainly better than nothing. I understand these dates are typically "worse case" and I'm the type to prefer being told something will arrive Wednesday when in fact it is more likely to arrive Monday.

How are they confusing at all? If they are processing Sep 06 cases today, that means there is Mar 07 minus Sep 06 months of lag. Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, Mar ... 7 months of lag. So if you filed in Feb 07, expect the case to be processed Feb 07 plus 7 months = Aug 07.

The shortest time they will ever show is 6 months processing for I-129f or I-130--that is their target processing time.
