Packet 3 Question. Help!

I have not received my packet 3. But on the visa status it says ready. My question is if i know all the documents i need to take to the embassy do i have to wait to receive packet 3? We made our appt for the embassy (two weeks away guessing packet 3 will be here by then) I'm just freaking out that it will take longer to receive. I try to call the embassy and it seems i can't get through to anyone to give me an answer. And i emailed as well from when the visa status changed to "ready".

Everything in packet 3 is mentioned on the pages given. There's nothing you need from the embassy. You have to get all the forms and documents yourself even with packet 3.

"As soon as you complete all the requirements you need to pay the visa fee online and the next day after 1 pm you will be able to schedule an appointment www.ustraveldics.com/cr or through the telephone number 4000-1976( from Costa Rica) or (703) 745-5475( from the US) .

Your payment can be made with debit card, credit card or pay pay account.They will email you a receipt for your payment and when you set up your appointment you will need to use the same email address you used to make the payment."

So you have financials done. Police certificate. Birth certificate everything you need for interview complete and in had. Along with evidence updated letter of intent.

Yes just need fiance to sign updated letter of intent when i get to Costa Rica. & fiance is picking up translated documents on thursday.

There have only been three business days since you saw your NVC status as "ready". You saw the status change on Tuesday the 24th. The business days were then Wed, Thur, Fri and then it was a holiday weekend (US embassies follow US federal holidays, by law-- they're part of the federal government).

It's possible if not probable that several people took a long weekend, too (President's Day to Memorial is the longest stretch between federal holidays and therefore tends to be a popular one to tack on days to), so they could have been short staffed late last week.

They haven't lost your file (it would still say "in transit" if it hadn't been scanned in), it's just waiting in line to be processed and just like every other line in this situation, that's going to take a little time, and sometimes a lot of time if the pile has built up and/or it's around a major holiday.

You already submitted the DS-160? I'd have waited until they contacted me to do that, personally. My fiance did the application but waited until we got the embassy email to pay and submit so it doesn't seem like it comes in from out of the blue. I don't think it would cause a problem, just a little odd.

Are you going by an old checklist that folks email around or something? If so, check the date of it and make sure it's not too old. It is definately helpful that folks share these and can help you get ahead of the game, but they can complicate the issue if you're not careful-- the one that was sent to me was 3+ years out of date and came along with tips and tricks from people years back and with different visas (with different requirements) so I definitely wanted to be sure to wait for the checklist from the embassy itself.

Example: translations are not necessary for this step of the K1 process through San Jose (but the instructions passed to me said that it was-- so that was either an old requirement or one for IR1/CR1 visas). No harm no foul in this situation (if they're easy enough to get and you're waiting anyway, no big deal. For us it would have meant several extra days in San Jose while there were a million other things going on at home and we just couldn't do it, but luckily I knew we didn't need to because I was going from the updated checklist). Either way-- you do need them translated for AOS so it's good that you got them done now. Just make sure you get extra copies of the translations, or make sure you hang onto them after the interview or you'll have to do it again in the US.

Scratch my first answer. You were asking yesterday-- they were definitely closed yesterday. I would think you'd hear something today or tomorrow (4 or 5 business).
