I find it interesting reading about the meaning of dreams. I'm not sure if they mean anything or not, but it's a very interesting subject.

My view of dreams is that they are the brain's garbage disposal...no real meaning otherwise.

I believe dreams mean something. Possibily it's not like that you described above, that's too general, if you dream of this it means that. I don't buy that. But I believe some dreams are a manifestation of our fears, wishes, etc.

No one can know the story a dream is telling better then the dreamer. Dreams are the language of the subconscious and if you want to understand them, I can recommend keeping a dream log. Just write down whatever dreams you remember every day and suddenly you begin a dialog with yourself through your dreams. It can be quite a journey.

I have studied at length the meaning of dreams and how they would apply to me and I have concluded that dreams mean nothing at all. It is just your mind's way of letting go of all the information that happened that day.

I think that the vast majority of dreams are our mind’s restless garbage. However, paying attention to some of the more meaningful ones could give insight to hopefully change our opinions, emotions or actions for the better. Also on some level I believe we are all connected so I don’t rule out exceptional, rare dreams that predict the future or show events as they are happening.

Once I was caretaking an elderly lady who was advised never to get up on her own. I was sleeping that night on the other side of her hospital room when, in a dream, I saw the dark room, her coming out of the bathroom, bumping into the sink and falling down yelling. Seeing that, I started to shout in despair too, in the dream. I woke up from the deep sleep (still shouting!) to see, yes, the lady on the ground by the sink, moaning in pain. She told me she had bumped into after visiting the restroom on her own.

I'm really not sure. I never use to remember dreams, assuming i had one, but in the past few years i have dreamt more and remember them. I have had the crying ones, and funny that they always involved my deceased parents, so maybe it was a part of healing.

My culture main religion, Theravada Buddhism, have specific dream events that determine the outcome of your future. If you dreamed of a bad situation, the consequence of your future will be that of good fortune. However, if you have a good dream, the consequence is that you will have a bad event that will be occuring in the future.

The last time I went to the philippines, I was dreaming on the plane that I was chasing someone. As I was catching up to him, he spun around and fired a gun as the wheels touched down with a hard bump. Needless to say I jumped a mile high and made a fool out of myself.

Interesting theory! I guess that would mean all the bad dreams regarding the abuse at the hands of my ex means I'm going to have a very successful marriage to my husband.

Over here in Indonesia, some general meanings of dreams are if you dream about having a hair-cut it means you'd break up with your loved one

if you dream a bright full-moon falls on your lap it means you'd accept lots of money

if you dream of being naked it means you'd get a big shame for you and your family.

In the poll I voted for chase dreams. I had a dream where Dan and I were chased by awful looking pirates. it might be true that I'm avoiding and running away from something.

For years I had a frequently recurring dream in which I needed to use the bathroom but could not find a private stall, or the walls to the bathroom were clear or even non-existant.

One day I discovered that the meaning of the dream (a very common one also) was that I needed to eliminate something from my life, but did not know how to do it and I had no control over it. Sure enough, once my divorce was finished, the dreams stopped.
