Sputum culture results

Hi everyone, i just want ask to ask if someone here have any idea on when would be the crucial weeks or days for a sputum culture to be concluded? My wife had her 3day sputum test last may 16-18 and her pulmo eval was on the 19th, result was negative but doc says shes has to wait for 2months for the culture. Its really getting us worried. My wife cannot sleep because of this. I need your info's on this. Thanks

Culture takes 60 days. What you want to wish for is to NOT hear from St. Luke's for 60 days Hearing from SLEC early means TB culture is positive.

Hi! Been there a couple of months ago..I also came out negative on smear test.. And have to wait for two months on my culture, and thanked GOD twas negative also as per other says the smear test is 96% accurate the people who turn out positive on the culture is the one who has a symptoms of TB....don't worry it will turn out well.. Just pray and everything will fall into place GODBless!

Hi hank and eiram, thanks for your reply. After i post this query i checked about sputum culture on google, iv read if in case a positive result, the bacteria is most likely to grow on the fisrt 14days. I hope its true. Plus, after coming home from the 3day sputum test, my wife had her second opinion here in our local hospital which she said the equipment used for xray are the same as of st lukes but the doctor found nothing on her lungs. Praying for a neagtive result. Thanks again.

Two x-rays within a short time... does your wife glow in the dark ?

Seriously. No matter the result of the SPUTUM it is all for the better, if there is TB she will be cured, if no TB you both can move forward quickly.

Hello there. I just want to know what are the possibilities will happen. I got a call from SLEC after 3-4 weeks i think after my negative sputum smear. They said something grew in my sputum but she said it was not a TB and they will check what is it. So she then told me to go back at St. Lukes on October 25 instead of October 15 which is the original date. So totally, it somewhat 2months and 10 days waiting. Do you have any experience like this guys? Any thoughts? Thank you so much. Im just so depressed after all.

Thoughts?   You show up on the 25th of October.   Until then it is all speculation.
