Visa Interview at Montreal?

My fiancee has a VAC case number but when I check on the status after submitting packet 3 it says "Your case is ready for you to schedule an interview at the U.S. Consulate General in Montreal." Why would they move it all the way to Montreal this puts an unexpected stress and cost on the visa. Is it possible to still schedule an interview at Vancouver? Does she need to fill out the DS-160 again because she selected Vancouver when filling it out? Can she get the medical interview without a Conculate Interview date? I'm unsure when she can fly to Montreal.

She should still be at Vancouver and that's the standard response after packet 3. However, soon Vancouver will no longer be doing K1 interviews but it's based off of when your case number was assigned (or NOA2; I honestly forget which.)

NLR you are right...

Effective April 1, 2016, U.S. Consulate General Vancouver is no longer processing new fiancé(e) (K) visa applications. U.S. Consulate General Montreal will be the interview location for all fiancé(e) visas in Canada. This change applies to all fiancé(e) visa petitions received at the National Visa Center after March 31, 2016. U.S. Consulate General Vancouver will continue to process fiancé(e) visa applications and conduct interviews for petitions they received prior to that date.

So your noa2 was before the cut off so you should be fine for vancouver, thus the VAC number. :)

Oh thanks this is good news. I was so worried about how to get her to Montreal and how to juggle everything. I can just drive up there and take her to the interview in Montreal but she would have to fly back after. I'm happy it goes by the NOA2 date and not the date they randomly received it in the mail. Thanks for the help.
