Change of Address

Hi

We filed I-129F in Feb and now I (filer) changed the address so my fiancee's 'intended address' is also changed.

So, on the letter of confirmation they mentioned that I should call them as soon as address changes, but I also read here on the forum about form AR-11 (which apparently is now possible to file online).

My questions are:

1. Do I just call them? (as official letter from them states).

2. Do I also file AR-11 form?

3. Can I file AR-11 form online?

Thanks!

You have submit form AR-11 which can be found at http://www.uscis.gov/. Yes, filing online will be quicker, however, they say it takes up to 30 days to be effective.

They're the official. Call them up. ^_^

Sounds like you have some apprehension about calling. Doesn't matter which route you go. Online, or phone. However, you may expect wait times with phone.

I think the AR-11 form needs to be filed when your fiancee's address in the U.S. changes. I gather your fiancee is not in the U.S. yet so you don't have to worry about it till later. For the USC there is an online link, but if you are sponsoring a I-134 I think you also have to fill out a form, I-865 I think I read, when your address changes.

OK, after calling them and providing all the information.. due to "technical difficulties" they were not able to process change of address for me. So I have to do it online.

Couple of interesting questions there, which I am not sure how to answer...

Under Customer information (mine)

Status in US: Other, Permanent Resident, Student, Visitor

What should I put if I am a citizen? Other or Permanent Resident?

Person for whom you're filing: Self, Child, Employee, Parent, Spouse, Other

If it is I-129F for fiancee, do I put Spouse or Other?

Thanks!

There is no way the USCIS can change your fiancee's address. The USCIS only accepts change of address in the US. Once the petition has been approved, the USCIS will forward your application to the NVC, who will then send you a letter stating they have received your packet and asking if your fiancee's address is still current. However, it would be impossible to change address with the NVC too, because they just send out your packet to the consulate right away.

Once at the consulate, it is now your chance to change the address, because they will call the beneficiary first to verify that his/her address is current. You can fax a request for change of address at the embassy once your packet is received there already.

Good luck!

Thanks all. I think I went with Permanent Resident and Spouse, hopefully that was the right choice. (Although the right answers would be US Citizen and Fiancee.

No AR-11 for an alien who is NOT yet in the US.

If you need to correct your fiance's overseas address, contact her Embassy once the file is there. CIS can not make this type of address change.

Holy cow people, ask more questions! :)

Oh man, I totally confused myself and everyone else. Forget 11 form, I needed to change my US address. I was confused about questions I quoted above. That's all :)

PS I am still confused, but I already filled out the form and I don't want to do it again (so it does not mess up anything).

PPS I was surprised to see that there was no "US Citizen" option and "Fiancee" option.

There is no US citizen option because US citizens do not need to report their whereabouts to the government.

Perhaps you could restate what you are trying to accomplish.
