My fiance and I have applied for a K1 visa. We recently received an instruction packet for what is needed for the consulate interview in Dublin. Part of the requirement is very specific photograph specifications for Medical Examination/Immigrant Visa:


"The photograph should measure 2 inches square (roughly 50 mm square) with the head


centered in the frame. The head (measured from the top of the hair to the bottom of the


chin) should measure between 1 inch and 1 3/8 inches (25 mm to 35 mm) with the eye level


between 1 1/8 inches to 1 3/8 inches (28 mm and 35 mm) from the bottom of the photo."


Unfortunately, of all things, it has been surprisingly difficult to get photos to that exact specification. Would visa photos taken by the local pharmacy for an Irish standard passport be sufficient? The website makes it seem like the specifications are very strict. https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/general/photos/photo-composition-template.html Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, you have to apply by US passport photo requirements (as given). Any professional photographer (photo store) should be able to accommodate that, just bring the specifications with you :-)

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

You're probably going to have to go to a photography store like A'n'L said and tell them you need passport photos in US sizes (get at least 4, 2 for medical and 2 for interview), most photo booths will only print in the correct size for your own country.

I am not sure if you get Boots Pharmacies in Ireland since I know it's technically a UK pharmacy, but they have photos in both US and UK/Ireland sizes there so if you do actually have a Boots nearby you can go there and they should be able to easily get you the US sizes you need.
