Question on CR1 Visa

Getting the marriage certificate at my country takes 4 months, so then I can start applying for the CR1 visa. I have a B1-B2 tourist visa. Can I go to the States, get married to get the certificate faster and then go back to my country and apply for the CR1? Will getting married in the States be an issue to get the CR1 approved? What do you think?

1) when you get the marriage certificate the petitioner can send the I-130 petition. This starts the process towards a CR1 visa.

2) Yes you can get married in the USA if you're allowed entry

Getting married in the US should not be an issue for the IR1/CR1 visa. I went on vacation for 1 month, got married at Palm Beach County Court House, got certified copy of marriage certificate same day and then went on a 4 day honeymoon before returning to my home country.

However, the US citizen has to file for you and it will be a lengthy process lasting from 11-15mths. Good luck! :thumbs:
