Will I fail the medical?

I am 32 years old and when I was 16 got hospitalized after suicide attempt and drug use. This will be in the record that I have to bring to the medical exam. I have not had any issues of either sort. Am I likely to fail the medical exam because of this history? Is there anything I could do to prepare for the exam? Any input will be appreciated

I don't think you will fail unless you are still using some drugs. I don't think something 16 years ago can lead to failure of medicals.

You probably need your doctor / psychiatrist to write a report of any treatment, meds, or knowledge he has of your mental stability.

If he says you are no longer a threat to yourself or others and he thinks you will not be in the future, then that's all you need.

Admission of suicide attempt and drug use even if it happened 5 decades ago will subject you for paychological evaluation. While it is true that we need to be honest on the infos we give during our medical there are called white lies. A lot if people deny previous use of drugs.

Here i the Philippines they will refer you for psychological evaluation for admission of drug use or suicidal attempt. For drug use whether it was one time only because of peer pressure as long as you admitted it they will refer you for evaluation and it will cause delay. They usually require psychological evaluation for history of drug use, suicide attempt, annulment based on psychological incapacity, abortion and a lot more.
