Hey Guys- my case was just sent to NVC and i'm awaiting a case number.

However and for some reason I cant seem to find the information anywhere:

Is NVC sending us a list of documents they want (AOS + IV Package)? I know which documents to send but I just want to have the piece of mind of having a list from NVC (and also whether we need that special coversheet for Montreal cases that I've seen on travel.state.gov)

I have read every single guides/wiki but cant seem to find the answer to my question.

Also, for Montreal Consulate applicants, do we send to the normal NVC EP email address or is there a special one?

Basically, does NVC send us a guide at the beginning of the process?

Thank you!

Hi

I just reach the end of my nvc process. They will send a welcome mail with your case number and that you should go to their website to setup and account to pay the fees. After your bill is generated they will send one bill to you and one to you petitioner. When you pay the bill it will ask for you to fill out the d261you would have to wait a few days to be able to fill out the d260.

Before you get the access to fill out the d260 they will send you a letter with what forms and evidence you need to send.

I don't know if it just me because I'm in the Caribbean but they move in a pretty good timely manner. Just relax and follow the instructions as best as possible. I only receive one rfe and trust me I fill the form out about 4 times and recheck everything.

You'll do fine.

Have you read the NVC website? They dont need to send you a personal list when they have it available for everyone. They do however normally send you a welcome email with document cover sheet.

If you use EP follow their instructions... https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Submit_documents.html#method1

I have, of course, but they only show Packet IV and at the beginning of the packet it explains that it is sent when the case is received at the embassy while I'm only at the NVC stage. I found it a bit confusing.

I also found confusing the fact that they showed EP available for Montreal filers but did not show the three letter MTL code in the list under method 1: EP.

And yeah i was wondering about the cover sheet because I believe we have to include it when we send in the documents, correct?

MTL is three letter code. All NVC case numbers start with 3 letters that represent the consulate or embassy. MTL is for Montreal. ANYONE interviewing in Montreal can either email or mail their documents to the NVC. Thats why its in the second part because you have a choice.

Packet4 (IV) is the interview letter which only happens after a case complete and when the interview is scheduled.

Which step exactly are you unsure of? You still need to send a copy of your IV (immigrant visa) and the AOS (affidavit of support) to the NVC so they can check to make aure you have everything and its completed correctly. You fill out the DS-261, pay the fees when they're available, send the documents, and do the DS-260. They need all of that to give you a case complete and to be able to schedule you an interview. Once you get the P4, you can schedule a medical and any accommodations for the interview.

The bar coded cover sheet can be sent with the welcome letter or printed off after the AOS is paid or printed off after the IV fee is paid. Any other cover letter is written by you describing what is contained within a package you are sendinf them.
