Wow. I have some understanding of what you're going through. That's why I'm glad that my fiance is supposed to be picking up packet 3 instead of them mailing it to him or I'd be saying the same thing. :( When is the World Cup supposed to be over? I haven't been following. Do you have an idea of how long it will take them to schedule the interview once the DS230 is in?

April 4...and it's still not here. Now the country will be on Holidays until next wednesday (Easter and then Cricket!)

I wish Kellon could have just picked it up..but since we live on a different island, it would have been real expensive for him to fly there to get it. Soooo, we are waiting.

Cricket will last until the 29th (Give or take a few) So it has definatly been a pain in the butt. I've stocked up on food and gas for my stove...there is no guarrantee anyone has planned properly on this iisland for the 10 days of 10,000 extra people on the island (normally about 80,000 people live here). it will be quite and experience.

The worst part about cricket though si that the West Indies team has been doing terribly in this round! It would have been nice to see them play a little better than what they've been doing. I hear England lost again today to Sri Lanka, sorry Tony, et al. But the England and West Indies teams are about even right now.

I don't know anything at all about cricket... It was hard enough when the Soccer World Cup was going on, trying to talk about it with my fiance. Yeah, I think you and I are kind of in the same boat. I spoke to my fiance last night and he doesn't think that the DS230 got there yet. If it didn't, I'll have to express it to him so he'll have it before his appointment.

Just starting the journey, haven't yet filed... Until today(2/12/07)!

When I sent a small package of photos via snail mail to Turkey- it took almost FOUR WEEKS. :(

Oh my goodness, that must drive you crazy.

sad face!

I just called the NVC and my petiton is still in the US going through administrative review. I got my letter from the NVC on 3/14. I just new it would be in Accra by now.

Good luck, I hope that they review it and move it quickly along.

Hello fellow Feb.-filers.... I just found this thread and thought I'd hop in. I enjoyed reading all of your experiences so far... so much of it was "oh! that happened to me too!" I sent everything in at the end of January, and my first NOA was dated Feb 5!

Mostly so far I've been very impressed with how quickly everything moved... Not just with the VSC but with the consulate too! Ten days after the date of the NOA2 the consulate sent out packet 3, which arrived 10 days after that! Actually the most surprising part was having the quick turn-around between VSC and the Montreal consulate, as the US/Canadian border is notorious for swallowing and/or delaying mail for weeks. (Seriously, if I send two pieces of mail on the same day--one to Brazil and one to Canada--the one sent to Brazil will arrive faster.)

We are waiting for a response to the checklist having been sent in.... A response which I assume will include an interview date! Then again, the checklist was only sent in on Saturday, so I really should not be impatient yet.

Quick question for you folks: My father is sponsoring my fiance, as I'm a grad student and am living that cliche'd life of ramen noodles and wonder bread. I hadn't planned on providing my own affidavit of support (I134), as I figured my father's $100k+ salary would appease them, but it seems most of you are filling one out yourselves too, even with a co-sponsor. Do you think that's something I ought to do? I still have time to pull the info together since we haven't gotten an interview date yet, but it's not something I had previously thought might be necessary.

Good luck to everyone here, best wishes for speedy deliveries of meandering packets!

Hey jaime+leo, I'm glad you found us. I know that your question was already answered but I'll chime in with a second. Yes, you have to do the I134 also. Have your father fill out both the I134 and the I864, or check in the Canada embassy forum to find out which one you will definitely need.

Just starting the journey, haven't yet filed... Until today(2/12/07)!

Jen,

that's great! I love seeing people in our group getting that far. It such a crazy process, but the best part is seeing us get through the other end.

I hope your interview goes well.
