I'm a USC, my husband is a UKC, and we're applying for his AOS right now. I'm currently pregnant, due July 4th, and am wondering about the baby's citizenship. What would we have to do (specifically) to ensure that the baby gets UK citizenship?

Thanks for any advice =)

I would like to think that you would contact the British Embassey here and register the birth. If it's anything like what you have to do if your child would be born in another country and you wanted to make sure the child had his/her US Citizenship...we would go to the US Embassey/Consulate and and register the "bitth abroad" and receive a certificate to that effect.

You should do two things...

1) You should apply for a UK Passport for the baby from the US Embassy in Washington (www.britainusa.com)

2) You should Apply for a Certificate of Registration with the Consulate for the child as a secondary form of evidence of British Citizenship (and remove the child of giving the passport service a TON of paperwork every time he wants to renew his passport for the rest of his life)

Hey we have the same situation our son was born in the USA but holds a British passport all youhave to do is register his birth with the embassy / UK authorities in Washington DC and in the same application you apply for a passport the whole process only takes a couple of weeks! If you visit this link it will tell you all you need to know!! http://www.britainusa.com/sections/article...001&a=25300

It is the official British embassy site in the USA with all the passport forms (etc) able to download and print out

Best of luck it's not difficult
