so i could camp outside the building all night? but then again, someone could've already been camping since the night before!

are we all told 8:30am?

does anyone know about how many people they interview in a day? those of you that have been there- was the line huge?

i believe i read they only do interviews until 11am. like, everyone's interview will END by 11am?

specific times like that would make a big difference in our flight from windsor to montreal. so far our safe-bet times for air canada (windsor airport only seems to have air canada, and air canada from windsor airport only goes to toronto, so it all becomes MORE money, and MORE complicated) will be around $1,500 for us both, round trip.

but if everyone's interview will END by 11am, that will be a huge difference of several hundred dollars

:clock:

thanks in advance

I belive they have just recently started giving interview times that are in the afternoon (2:30 pm) as well. I do not thinkthe lines get that bad, if ur there a tad early, say just prior to 0730. My interview was back in Dec 2004, I arrived just prior to 0730 and was like #4 in line. 2 people in fron to f me had big bags, thus were not allowed in until they stored them somewhere, lol I found thimgs to be fairly fast, I was out the door just past 1000 am.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

If your interview time on the letter says 8:30, get there just before they open the doors (you can't camp out on the sidewalk). I arrived just as they opened the doors, and unless htey've changed things, if you have the appointment letter, they let you right in. Only people who don't have appointments have to line up. If you arrive right at your appointment time, you'll end up sitting there all day long. If you arrive early, you'll be in and out before lunch.

Don't take anything not allowed, and you should do ok.

That is correct.. it's first come first served... the appointment time means absolutely nothing... get there about 30 minutes before they open..

BTW.. we also went from Windsor to Montreal... Do not fly out of Windsor .. period... Drive to Detroit or Toronto and take a flight from there... We flew from Toronto to Montreal for under $400...

For th emost part, the timing mean nothing, but I read on VJ that a few individuals have interviews scheduled for 2:30 pm, wonder what would happen if they showed up first thing in the morning??

I am trying to remember who the first person was here who got that 2:30 appt.. hmmm.. It was just after mine. IF I remember correctly, they (or someone else) showed up early but was asked to come back later.

My mind is a total mesh net right now ... can't hold information in.

haha, well i wish i could just go to detroit and fly, but i have a complicated case. as for driving to toronto, where would we park our car? i found really cheap westjet tickets between toronto and montreal. i thought maybe just take a train to london, then fly london to montreal, but unless we stop in tornoto first, we wont save much with a direct flight. and even if we do strop in toronto, we'd save like a hundred dollars (which isnt much since windsor to montreal is 1500 ish)

i keep trying to find deals or something different, but air canada website is cheaper than all "discounted" flights websites.

my husband also doesnt want to drive or make so many stops cause then there're more things that could get delayed, traffic, etc.

egh <_<

I would say that driving would be more of a sure thing than flying!! I've had so many delays and cancellations in the past that I don't trust travelling by air if I am on a time crunch. I am leaving tomorrow morning from Toronto and driving to Montreal with my mom....hopefully we get there in decent time!

We parked at a lot that was attached to the Thrifty Car rental next to the airport.. We just took the Car rental shuttle to the airport... There are lots of parking lots around the airport where you can leave your car...

Canada Rail is advertising 59 bucks from TO to Montreal

i wish. the low fares are all sold out for the 4th, and on the 5th when we get back their latest leaves before noon and i cant chance it :/ it's the having to stop in toronto that would make it all expensive. plus i just know my husband, he cant be on a train for 11 hours, hah. to him the 1500 is worth it, but i'm still trying to see what i can find.
