When to contact NVC?

Well, it hasn't been that long but I really don't understand what the normal wait time is.

My I-130 was approved on May 11th (says on the online case status) but I never got an email or text about it and I still haven't received my NO2 by mail. Is that weird? I hope it's not an error or something.

What is the normal wait time for paper NO2 or contact from the NVC? When should I contact them? When should I be worried?

OH! Actually I just checked my online case status and now it says this: "On May 23, 2016, we sent your case, Receipt Number ......., to the Department of State for visa processing."

So, how long should I wait now?

I think if you call you can get your number and get a start on the ds160 and getting medicals and interview set up

I'd say start calling NVC after about a week. As you can see in my signature that's what I and many others did.

After a week you can ask if they have recieved your case. Once they did they will tell you it will take them up to 42 days or so to assign a case#.

But you can still call on a weekly basis and ask about it. Took them 9 days in our case to assign the # and IIN.

I tried calling once, they said the same thing about it could take forty days; I got an email this morning with the case number. It was assigned May 20 (Friday) and I got the email Monday without doing a thing--pretty pleased with that! I've already filled out my choice of agent form and paid the AOS fee.

They said they received the case May 4 and began inputting data on May 6. I had called to check in on May 11 (that's when they told me to wait). But they were very polite when I called all the same. I hate making phone calls so I was glad to get the email, even though I was going to call again today.
