I got an approval notice (NOA2 from Potomac) on April 06, 2016. I called NVC 30 days later and they said they haven't received my case file from USCIS. They asked me to email my approval letter, which I did. I also checked with USCIS who say they sent my case to NVC on April 06, 2016.

Its Day 41 at NVC and I call them everyday (incl today) and keep getting told they have no updates. They said they cannot tell me how long it will take to find my case and to just wait to hear back from them.

Has anyone else been in the same boat as me? I am very worried that either USCIS or NVC have lost my case file.

It happened to me with my case, I called NVC and also called USCIS but someone from NVC actually contacted USCIS for me on my behalf. I think it should take longer than that, until your case is become current. Keep on emailing NVC until someone is willing to contact USCIS for you. Calling USCIS will take awhile because they will have to fill out a form and make you wait 30 to 60 days after they appointed you an officer that goes through or locate your file. Let NVC contact for you, it'll be easier.

Thanks for the info. How long did it take for NVC to give you an update on your case ie they found your case file? I emailed NVC research on May 13 and its been 10 days and no status.

Once you email them an approval letter, it'll take a couple of days for them to contact the USCIS to try to find it, and they will email you but they have to wait for USCIS to complete with their job then it takes a few days for NVC to get your file. NVC will contact you directly, I think you have to wait longer, maybe you are not at your current date yet. Don't worry, it's a long process and your file should be okay. It takes time unfortunately :( Keep on contact with NVC though.

Have USCIS checked with the NRC? I have seen cases that were sent there by mistake. Here is a link to one of those cases: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/434102-approved-i-130-sent-to-national-records-center-nrc-and-not-nvc-march-25-2013/?p=6271129

It's pointless contacting NVC because they can't track something that wasn't received in their building. My case was approve well after yours from Potomac and NVC received it 2 days from USCIS sending it. I would call Uscis again to ask if they can check if it was sent to NRC by mistake if they aren't being helpful then you would contact your congressman/woman.

On uscis.gov it does show that your case was sent to the department of state right?

Thanks for your assistance.

My last update says your i130 has been approved and to check the letter in mail. I received I797 that says the same.

Oh wow ok, well I saw a case online ysc1690006770 Approve on 4/4/16 that hasn't been sent to the department of state.

Normally when a case is approve the next update changes from approved to sent to Department of state (NVC) there might be an issue with a few of those cases approved around the time yours was approved. I am not 100% sure what could be the reason. Do they have some type of tracking number to let you know if your docs left the building? It might be stuck on someone's desk that forgot to sent out your paperwork. If they are saying the docs were sent to NVC ask if they can double check to see if it was sent to NRC in error. If they can't help then

then at this point I would get my congressman/woman involved if they can't give you some type of info on the tracking. Speak to a tier2 rep if you haven't already.

I am in the same boat...

My I-129 was approved on April 7, 2016.

NVC has not received it and no proof that it has left USCIS. (California)

I have also emailed NVC research on May 13 and nada.

When I called USCIS they told me it could be up to 30 days to get a response.

This wait is way worse than waiting for the NOA2. Very frustrating when you have no clue where your file is!

Jan. 28, 2016: mailed the I-129F application

Feb. 1, 2016 arrived to the lockbox NOA1

Feb 4, 2016 check cashed

Feb. 8, 2016 Signed return receipt arrived

April 7, 2016 Case was approved NOA2

Aug. 5, 2016 was issused a new NOA2, the first one was never sent and it took 4 months to find and issue a new one

Aug. 17, 2016 arrived to NVC FINALLY!!!!

Aug. 22, 2016 Case and Invoice number and sent to Santo Domingo

Aug. 24 Case READY in Santo Domingo :)

Aug, 29 Biometrics

Aug. 30 Medical

Oct. 3 interview

Oct. 3 APPROVED

Oct. 11 Visa issued

Oct. 12 Documents collected from the Embassy

Oct. 14 Passport ready for pick up :)

Thank guys. I just found out that my file never left the service center, even though it was approved. :wow:

After waiting 41 days this is not the response I was looking for. Guess I'll be back in the queue for NVC to assign me a case number. Crying my heart out and hoping for a miracle

How did you find this out?

I am thinking the same is happening to me.

Thanks.

It can take up to 90 days for it to reach the NVC. Call the USCIS, talk to a tier 2, find out where the case is. Do it more than once.

Call the NVC until your case shows up.
