Hello,

My husband's final interview is next month, and after reading through the checklist of items in Packet 4 I need a few things clarified before I send him my documents to submit during his interview.

Most of the items are clear, but I'm not sure about the following:

*They're asking for "sponsor's bank letter". I'm already submitting my employment letter, pay stubs, and tax docs to support the I-864. What are they looking for in a bank letter?

*My appointment with my accountant to file my 2006 taxes isn't until the week of his interview. Is it necessary to submit 2006 if his interview is on April 5 (before the filing deadline)? The checklist item says "Sponsor's tax returns. Last year on signing I-864 must include W2 forms and 1040 forms." I was planning on including my tax docs for years 2003, 2004, and 2005. Do you think that will be sufficient?

One last thing -- when do they actually issue the visa? Is it days after the interview? My husband is trying to figure out when he should book his flight leaving Barbados. If they usually take one extra day to process the visa, he will plan on staying there until then, rather than waiting for the visa by mail.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help!

The bank letter is only needed if you need to show assets if your income falls below 125% of the poverty line, if over you only need to provide IRS returns, the letter from employer, and pay stubs are also optional, but recommended.

From the I-864 instructions:

23. Current Individual Annual Income.

...For example, you may include a recent letter from your employer, showing your employer's address and telephone number, and indicating your annual salary. You may also provide pay stub(s) showing your income for the previous six months....

25. Federal Income Tax Information.

You must provide either an IRS transcript or a photocopy from your own records of your Federal individual income tax return for the most recent tax year. If you believe additional returns may help you to establish your ability to maintain sufficient income, you may submit transcripts or photocopies of your Federal individual income tax returns for the three most recent years. (Page 7-8 of the I-864 form instructions)

They may or may not request your 2006 return, I have not read of them doing this yet, I suspect they would expect them after April 15.

Last thing it is recommended not to book air flight before the interview in case a complication may come up at the interview, only book the flight after actually having the visa in hand.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.
