Questions regarding Mumbai Consulate

Just had a few questions. We are currently waiting for an interview date which will probably be in early July (I'm hoping).

We're thinking of doing everything in Mumbai (medical, biometrics) instead of making two separate trips to Chennai and Mumbai.

I was wondering about turnaround times for the medical. In previous threads I've seen it can be picked up within a day. Is this typical for the Rele clinic in Mumbai?

Also, how quickly can the passport be picked up if we stay in Mumbai to get it from the consulate? Or is it better to have it shipped?

My husband had his medical done in 1 day but it took about a week to pick up the results from Rele clinic. We were able to pick up the visa 3 days after the interview. Best of luck to you both!

we were told that the "official" recommendation is to do the medical 7-10 days prior to interview date. We flew from Bangalore to Mumbai 10 days prior to interview and went directly from the airport to the clinic for the medical appointment. We were able to pick up the results the next afternoon at 5pm but they send a separate courier directly to the consulate in addition to the packet they give you (that is what they told us at least). We then did the biometrics just a few days prior to the interview date and we flew home to Bangalore the day after the interview and picked up his passport from the VAC in Bangalore 10 days after interview. All in all we spent 11 days in Mumbai just mostly visiting friends and hanging out. It was actually a nice little "vacation" for us.

OK, cool. We still haven't decided on how to proceed with everything. How was the Rele clinic overall? Busy, clean?

I did notice on their website they're asking for 8 passport photos as opposed to the 3 stated by the consulate.

Not in Mumbai they aren't you have to go to the VAC which is just down the road from the Mumbai embassy and they need your biometrics done in advance of your interview date. When they schedule your interview they send you a checklist with details such as approved doctors for the medical appointment, where and when you need to have medical complete and biometrics and fingerprinting completed. they told us to have the medical done at least 7 days prior to the interview and fingerprints needed to be a few days before interview
