Hi,

I am filling out I-864 part 6, and have filled out the 3 years of taxes, most recent 2015, then 2014 then 2013, however half way through 2013 i Joint the Navy in May so my total income for 2013 was only 11956.18 which is below federal poverty guidelines however 2014 and 2015 total income exceeds the federal poverty guidelines... so my question is do i still have to fill out part 7 or can i skip it and just attach a note saying the reason why 2013 was so low?

Does your current annual income meet the requirement? That is what matters. If it does, then no need for assets. Assets are used when your current income does not meet the requirement.

The last 3 years of tax info and your current annual income are two separate things, and are listed in two separate places on the form. Tax info is about past income and whether or not you filed your taxes, and current annual income is just that, what you currently make annually. You provide your most recent tax transcript plus documentation of current annual income, with letter from employer and recent pay stubs. If in the military, then use LES. And active duty only need 100%, not 125%. https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864p.pdf

Because you're active duty you only need 100% of the poverty guidelines. Make sure to include your LES statements. Put in your basic pay before taxes. You should more than qualify with that. If not you can include your BAH.
