TimsDaisy,

Point of clarification: the fee is not for the visa, it's for processing the visa application. The fee is paid whether or not a visa is ever issued.

Yodrak

Right - one fee is for the visa itself (like the I-129F fee is $170).

I'm a little confused by the fees. Someone please correct me if I have anything wrong. When you file the I-129F it costs $170. Once that is approved and moves along to the Consulate in the beneficiary's country, and he/she gets called to the interview and passes (hopefully) there is another $100? (This is not counting here the $$ for the medical and for photos which varies from country to country.) Is there any other fee to pay the embassy/consulate, which is a set fee? I am having a lot of trouble fining out info for the consulate we'll be going through....the particular website is not very informative w/ respect to K1 visas, so I'm not sure what other fee there is that is universal. Anyone?

Thanks,

-P

I take it you haven't seen This helpful page?

There is Embassy information for many countries and user reviews from the "Embassy Info" link at the top of every page.

I have seen that page, and I've looked at up, down and sideways, but there is not much specific information for the consulate we will be going through. My SO is a Romanian citizen, but he is a temporary resident in Hungary, so he will be going through the consulate in Budapest, Hungary for his visa. This embassy is not even listed on VJ, and the only review in the reviews section is from June of 06. So not too much "specific" info on what happens once we get approved here and the petition goes to the consulate. I've been gathering general info...but as has been the case with many here on VJ, the consulate/embassy can make requirements that are specific and unique to the consulate in question.

Thanks for the info, though.
