I may be working on this too long today. But it says the K-1 fee is $100.00 per person. As we are both applying as a couple for this Visa- is that $200.00?

OR- Since only he is actually receiving the Visa- is it just $100.00?

Thanks!

That's for applying at the embassy, I think.

You pay when you file your petition in the US and when your fiance/e goes to his/her interview they pay another fee which is the 100$ fee.

I'm a little confused by the fees. Someone please correct me if I have anything wrong. When you file the I-129F it costs $170. Once that is approved and moves along to the Consulate in the beneficiary's country, and he/she gets called to the interview and passes (hopefully) there is another $100? (This is not counting here the $$ for the medical and for photos which varies from country to country.) Is there any other fee to pay the embassy/consulate, which is a set fee? I am having a lot of trouble fining out info for the consulate we'll be going through....the particular website is not very informative w/ respect to K1 visas, so I'm not sure what other fee there is that is universal. Anyone?

Thanks,

-P

The first fee is 170$ for the petition fee in the US. Then your fiance has to has his medical exam and get documents translated etc. which is separate. When he goes on the day of his interview he will have to pay 100$ for the interview. I think all in all our total cost was about 400$ for the petition, interview, passport, medical, translations etc.

I hope that makes sense!

Yes, thanks! I saw somewhere that in addition to the $100 fee for the interview there was also a $300-something fee for what was termed as an "immigrant" visa.....and I didn't know if we had to pay that too. I wasn't sure which category the K-1 fell....immigrant or non-immigrant, but someone in another thread explained that it is a non-immigrant visa w/ an immigration intent? That makes sese but I still wasn't sure what more we had to pay.

This whole thing is about paying a fee here and a fee there. $170 for the application, then $100 for the visa, then $325 for the AOS plus $70 for biometrics, not to mention the other charge for the EAD. And THEN the fees will be doubled this summer. NICE!!!!

I know....I'm don't even want to think about the doubling of the fees. W/ our timeline and service center by the time my SO gets here we will have the new fees to contend with when Filing for AOS/EAD/AP. I don't even know where we will come up w/ the money for all of it especially since K-1's aren't as a rule given temp EAD at the POE.

I'm just trying to take it one step at a time....if not they may have to cart me off to the  bin wearing one of those 'oh-so-nice' white jackets w/ the long sleeves that tie in the back. ;)
