As long as you don't mind losing $400-$1400. Then you could plan to book the flight as early as 7 days from when the ceac website says the visa was issued. That gives 3-4 days for delivery and 3-4 days for your fiance to pack and go to the airport.

But that just stresses the whole situation, and does not give them a lot of time to say goodbye.

After all when you're fiancee arrives it will be a minimum of several months before they are allowed to return home and literally re-enter without a new visa application.

We just booked a ticket about 2.5 weeks from the date of the interview. We're using points and it seems to be pretty easy to choose a different date if this one doesn't work out but it's hard to use points if we wait too long. Thanks for your insights though. Very much appreciated!!

We're both excited, she's already mostly packed, and is giving up her apartment in Beijing to soon stay at her cousin's in Shenzhen while awaiting the medical and interview. Hopefully the timing works out!

In my opinion that is enough time, assuming she passes the interview. Make sure you prepare some celebration amenities for when she passes the interview! Good luck!

It took our Visa 5 days to be delivered including weekends. Since you just went to issued today 9-29, I know you won't receive it prior to the holiday, but as long as EMS delivers during the holiday, I am not that familiar with China Post, compared to US Post, then you could expect to receive it during the holiday, but I would say it is not very likely for it to arrive prior to the holiday. Especially because the Holiday is 2 days away. I am unsure when you observe Chinese National day, but the Embassy observes it October 1st through October 5th. You are hoping to get it before the 5th, but the 5th is the last day of the holiday.

She said Citic would close the 5th. There is a very slim chance but I doubt it. So we are looking at about 3 weeks for her to be here.

Our status on CGI website changeed to Document Delivery Information:....and that is it it is blank after that. I'm not so sure the website is accurately updated.

I hope it works out that way as I will Tuesday and Wednesday off. Anything later and I might have to stay up all night after picking her up from the airport (my shift starts at 4 am in the morning, no time for sleeping with a later arrival).

My company gave me 2 weeks off to help acclimate the Mrs. best I could to the US. Transitioning to the US is a huge task, and not having anyone around for the first few days can be very emotionally draining.

I will only have one day off, Wednesday, then 4 days back on, one day off, then 6 days back on, then we get married and honeymoon. There are three of us covering our area and it is manned 7 days a week. One person is on vacation so there really is no option of taking days off.

We are doing a whole lot of shopping on Wednesday; kitchen essentials, fall clothing, getting her on a phone plan. I'll probably order Netflix again. Hopefully she will be as comfortable as possible.
